Job Description
Job Title: Secondary Science Teacher (AP Biology, Pre-AP Biology, MS Earth Science)
Location: Taiwan
Start Date: 24 July (Department Head Orientation)

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Science Teacher to join our international school faculty. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching AP Biology, Pre-AP Biology, and Middle School Earth Science, with a teaching load equivalent to 21 periods per week (each 40 minutes; most taught in 80-minute blocks).

Qualifications
• Education: Master’s degree in Education or a related field preferred; alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of relevant teaching experience
• Experience: 5+ years of teaching or relevant educational experience
• Preferred Knowledge:

Key Responsibilities
• Ensure student safeguarding and child protection protocols are upheld
• Support student well-being and safety during school events and activities
• Plan and implement curriculum using the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework
• Develop assessments with clear rubrics and performance criteria
• Differentiate instruction, incorporate student voice, and align with the 7 Cs
• Collaborate with colleagues in planning, data analysis, and student support
• Provide timely, constructive written feedback on student work
• Maintain up-to-date gradebooks (PowerSchool) and parent communications
• Use inquiry- and project-based strategies to build deep understanding
• Scaffold instruction and encourage critical thinking through open-ended questions
• Manage classroom behavior positively and respectfully
• Use physical space creatively to support learning (e.g. anchor charts, group activities)
• Communicate academic and pastoral concerns proactively and professionally
• Respond to parent emails or calls within 48 hours, maintaining transparency and support
• Attend and contribute to conferences, events, and school-wide initiatives
• Support WASC Action Groups and community engagement activities
