About the Venture

We are excited to launch a new stealth venture - a thriving community and marketplace where industries, technologies and professional services come together to innovate in new ways. This venture helps organisations leverage the proven solutions of others to solve their own business problems, reducing duplicate effort and inspiring new approaches to innovation. 

Our marketplace hosts a variety of proprietary solutions and curated content from leading industry players, startups, vendors and universities. We aim to inspire and foster collaboration between a community of innovators both online through our platform, and offline through events and relationships.

This venture is being built by BCG Digital Ventures (“BCGDV”) and is backed by leading industrial players across the world. The business is due to launch in early 2020, and will be based in London UK with some international travel. 

What will the role involve?

Do you have the ability to source and evaluate the most recent innovations in the Metals & Mining or Oil & Gas industries? Do you have a passion for discovering new technologies?

As a Creative Technologist, you will use your technical expertise in disruptive technologies (ie. AI, Machine Learning and IOT) to answer some of the industries most pressing problems and help drive tangible outcomes. For instance, matching technologies to help industrials optimise flotation processes or improve the safety conditions for field workers. You will be responsible for helping to match problems to solutions and building a strong portfolio for the startup marketplace.

As a Creative Technologist you will:

• Be the go-to person within the team for technical industry expertise in O&G and M&M
• Be responsible for researching and assessing the technology landscape in Metals & Mining or Oil & Gas industry from industrial players, vendors, universities & startups
• Be responsible for liaising with identified “innovators” and growing the pipeline of new innovative technologies and deals
• Support on pre-sales activities and source sought-after technology missing from the portfolio 
• Be representative of the portfolio and discuss the technology solutions with interested leads

Desired Expertise & Experience

• +10 years working in Metals & Mining or Oil & Gas industries in a technical capacity
• Metals & Mining/Oil & Gas experience/background in a commercial role is a plus
• Extensive experience as a lead developer and/or technical lead 
• Engineering degree (eg. Computer or Chemical degree)
• Expertise in building pipeline of new technology licensing opportunities is a plus
• Proficiency at all stages of design, specification, development, testing and release packaging
• An understanding of software development standards, Agile methodologies, quality assurance and governance standards
• Ideally having expertise in AI, machine learning and IoT
• An effective and confident communicator
• Commercial mindset and innovation in the technology and R&D community
