Job Description

The CPU Architecture Team is looking for a Security Architect/Researcher for the development of new CPU security capabilities and technologies meant to help the computing ecosystem improve the robustness of the platforms against malicious attacks. An additional goal is to devise solutions to improve the inherent security robustness of Intel's CPUs. The role takes place in a dynamic and unique environment that combines SW and HW as part of the problem and solution spaces.
The job provides a unique opportunity for the candidate to help shape the future of secure computing in Intel products and beyond. In collaboration with the candidate, we will strive to shape his/her role towards a future as technical authority in the field, based on a combination of tasks that may include but not limited to the following

  • Determines, specifies and evaluates the security requirements of technologies, or products
  • Creates, determines and specifies complex hardware security features and structures and evaluates their suitability and viability.
  • Defines and documents architecture specifications, which usually include HW-SW interfaces
  • Interacts with customers and partners to address emerging hardware security issues and discuss solutions
  • Prototypes ideas and techniques
  • Defines and documents verification and performance requirements
  •  Identify and address potential hardware security vulnerabilities in coordination with design and validation teams.
  • Analyze code demonstrating potential transient execution attacks and related issues
  • Define microarchitectural improvements for hardware security robustness and defense-in-depth
  • Provides consultation in security architecture design or review of projects to ensure security reaches high quality standards


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
  • An academical degree in Computer Science, or Electrical/Computer Engineering
  • At least 2 years of working experience in architecture, design and/or validation of SW, system, hardware and/or computing security

Additional Qualifications

  • MSc degree is an advantage
  • Aptitude for adversarial thinking
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas will be advantageous:
    • Vulnerability Research, participation in Hackathons
    • Threat modeling
    • Security principles and standards, security controls
    • End-to-end security architecture and secure development best practices.
    • Reverse engineering experience
    • Intel x86 Architecture
    • Platform architecture
    • Firmware
    • Secure development lifecycle
    • Experience designing and developing system level software that interacts directly with platform hardware
    • Familiarity with Crypto algorithms and usages
