Job Description


The Security Manager manages the Safety and Security operations on a daily basis. Areas of responsibilities include protection of property assets, employees, guests and property, safety, OSHA compliance, accident and fire prevention and response. Ensures that all areas of the property are safe and secure. The Safety and Security Manager will act as a liaison for the property, in compliance with all state and federal agencies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Will oversee the day to day operations for the Security department
  • Will patrol lobbies, corridors, and public rooms, confers with management, interviews guests and employees, and question persons to identify more information and investigate disturbances, complaints, thefts, vandalisms, and accidents.  
  • Help reduce team member injuries by observing and reporting unsafe conditions, and partner with departments to ensure that there is a preventative solution in place. 
  • Responsible for mentoring, training and cross training new hire team members on procedures for all positions.
  •  Enforce all property safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Own and manage safety programs, such as monthly safety committee meetings, development and implementation of all safety awareness initiatives, weekly communication of safety awareness, OSHA training, and property emergency procedures at all three properties.  
  • Maintains Certificates of Insurance (COI’s), certifications and documents required by law and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s). 
  • Initiates internal and external investigations independently or under the direction of the Hotel Manager.
  • Manage Lost and Found program.
  • Oversee scheduling, timesheets and payroll is aligned with budgetary goals.
  • Oversee and manage the details of the monthly security inventories to ensure that they are complete and accurate.
  • Manage and utilize Opera, HOTSOS and other software to perform basic safety and security duties.
  • Attentive to the radio communication and be alert for any emergency situation at all times.
  • Will be the point person for law enforcement agencies inquiries to include but not limited to; testifying in court for applicable cases, fact finding and evidence collection, and any other requests.
  • Knowledge of local laws that pertain to hospitality and the California Penal Code/ California Business and Professions Code. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned or tasked.

Pay Range: $70,000 - $75,000 annually


Qualifications


EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 4- 6 years in similar role as an Assistant Director of Safety, Safety and Security Manager, Safety and Security Supervisor
  • Full service hotel experience a must. 
  • Strong guest services experience and service recovery knowledge.  
  • Active guard card is a requirement.
  • Valid driver’s license is a requirement.
  • Risk Management experience preferred.
  • Must have working knowledge with security tools and equipment to train officers in the protection of guest and employees. 
  • Fluency in English both verbally and non-verbally. Spanish language is highly encouraged.  

EDUCATION:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

WORKING CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL WORK DEMANDS:

  • Able to sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended periods of time.
  • Able to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis.
  • Able to ascend and descend stairs on a daily basis.
  • Able to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • Must be able to operate equipment that are standard for the use of a Security Supervisor and Security Officer
  • Regular and on-time attendance is critical.
  • Hours occasionally exceed 40 hours per week, nights, weekends, and holidays or overnight are a necessity
  • Ability to stand during shifts when required
