The Datacenter Physical Security team (DCPS) is organized within CO+I and falls under its Cloud Infrastructure, Security, Safety and Governance (CISSG) team. DCPS is dedicated to delivering the most trustworthy and efficient physical security services to protect the personnel, infrastructure, data and confidential information foundational to the Microsoft Cloud. DCPS is seeking a Security Operations Manager with an active Top Secret (TS) security clearance to manage physical security operations for secure datacenter facilities in the Northern Virginia area. The Security Operations manager is the first line of supervision for security operations at multiple datacenters supporting U.S. Government customers, working closely with security vendors, customer representatives, datacenter operations management, and the Microsoft Facility Security Officer to meet the requirements of ICD705, NISPOM, and other U.S. Government standards for the protection of sensitive information.
Responsibilities
- Partner and collaborate closely with peer leaders and stakeholders, focused on maintaining a “One Microsoft” team environment
- Continuously improve the efficiency and maturity of the overall physical security program
- Receive escalations/notifications of physical security and business impacting incidents/events and appropriately triage, ensuring Microsoft leadership is made aware in a timely manner and continuously updated as appropriate while providing oversight to ensure appropriate personnel are managing the incident response effectively
- Collaborate with peer teams and organizations within Microsoft to ensure their team is aligned with broader strategy and initiatives and fully support leadership priorities while remaining focused on opportunities to identify efficiencies, reduce costs and develop a reputation for being a trusted advisor
- Continuously seek data and recommend strategies to reduce churn (optimize), implement creative solutions with a focus on automation to manage growth to scale
- Deliver assigned projects in accordance with established requirements, deadlines, and applicable employment law and company policy
- Engage with internal and external customers as appropriate to evangelize and represent Microsoft’s datacenter physical security programs
- Maintain confidentiality, discretion, and protect Microsoft information without question
- Drive and train personnel on OpSec, compliance, and continuous improvement of 24/7 security operations at multiple datacenters, partnering with datacenter operations and Facility Security Office personnel to resolve problems
- Manage on-site security operations for future locations currently under construction, and any future construction activities at existing operational sites, ensuring compliance with internal and U.S. Government security standards
- Develop working relationships with host facility representatives to resolve issues and improve security operations
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of procedures, operations planning, and standards to enhance the security of Microsoft datacenters worldwide
- Partner with the Critical Infrastructure Security Systems and Security Project Management teams in maintaining the integrity and operability of datacenter security systems, including access control, CCTV, and intrusion detection
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Skilled in managing multi-site security operations for facilities housing U.S. Government classified information, including oversight of guard operations, alarm investigation, and incident reporting
- Experience developing and executing emergency response plans for facilities housing U.S. Government classified information
- Working knowledge of the operation of security systems, including access control and intrusion detection systems, including the ability to request and oversee completion of repairs
- Experience developing training and testing programs to continually improve a security team
- Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time in both planned and unplanned scenarios
- Bachelor’s degree in security management, criminal justice, administration or management related field, or related equivalent experience
- 1-3 years of experience applicable to this role
Preferred Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of ICD705, NISPOM, OpSec, and other standards for the protection of U.S. Government information
- Experience with or exposure to regulatory and industry compliance frameworks and audits (e.g. ISO27001, PCI, SOC)
- Confident and skilled in preparing and delivering presentations and briefings to customers and management
- Experience with influencing and/or decision making that impact mission-critical, 24x7 operations environments
- Strong work and compliance ethic, and the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a dynamic and high-pressure environment
- Proficient (or an ability to quickly become proficient) in the use of Microsoft Office products for business
- Possess strong analytical and process improvement skills to produce data driven insights and associated process changes
- Strong leadership and subject matter expertise to deliver one or more large programs and services while increasing standardization, simplification and automation
- Flexibility to change plans, goals, actions and priorities in response to an evolving business environment with awareness to operate as a champion for course corrections when necessary
Security Clearance Requirements: Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
• Candidates must have an active TS and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with full scope polygraph) or have an active TS/SCI and be willing to upgrade to TS/SCI (with full scope polygraph). This role will require candidates to maintain the TS/SCI (with full scope polygraph) clearance.
• Citizenship Verification: This position requires verification of US Citizenship to meet federal government security requirements
