Job Description

 

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Seed Processing Lead, are to: 

 

  • Support Safety and Health initiatives with site operation teams;
  • Lead complex projects for seed inventory, seed procurement, database management, packaging, regulatory compliance and logistics;
  • Manage execution of day to day seed processing activities;
  • Be able to plan, support and allocate routine workflow to other team members and contract employees;
  • Manage quality management system including standard operating procedures development and review;
  • Be able to perform Site Responsible Researcher (SRR) duties for seed processing ensuring adherence to regulated and stewardship processes and protocols that are completed accurately and timely;
  • Train and participate in the development of people resources and talent at the site which includes Interns/Coops, New Research Associates and contract employees;
  • Be responsible for specialized maintenance of all seed processing equipment;
  • Be able to plan, track and delivery seed to growers for on time planting;
  • Establish key process indicators (KPIs) and make recommendations to help drive continuous process improvements;
  • Identify, recruit, train and manage contract employees;
  • Manage on time delivery of contra season field trials;
  • Work closely with global trade to ensure shipments reach destination on time;
  • Develop networking opportunities with other teams to foster collaboration relationships that will allow implementation of new technologies that can drive operational efficiencies;
  • Assist with key field activities during the summer growing season.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • B.S. with at least seven years in field trial planning and logistics OR M.S. with at least five years in field trial planning and logistics;
  • Excellent people, managerial and organizational skills;
  • Highly self-motivated;
  • Highly developed ability to understand the various systems and process used in experiment planning, seed production, seed shipment and other disciplines to be able to optimize process and systems;
  • Ability to lead a team of 10-15 contractors;
  • Bayer research systems and database experience;
  • Excellent communication oral, written, under diverse circumstances and audiences;
  • Demonstrated attention to detail, results orientation;
  • Creativity and experience in operational management to be able to develop new and improve old processes;
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of time.
