Job Description

YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The primary responsibilities of this role, Seed Technician, are to:

 

  • Follow and support all site safety rules and regulations, including performing safety inspections and training to ensure a safe working environment;
  • Assist with all aspects of the team including but not limited to: field crew supervision/training/scheduling, planting, netting, equipment calibration, regulatory compliance, GPS RTK – setup, utilization, and maintenance;
  • Operate and maintain vehicles and agricultural equipment such as tractors and farm implements that are required for the job;
  • Assist with training operators;
  • Operate tractor and planter, including Redwing revolver cassette planter, setup, troubleshoot;
  • Ensure successful and accurate placement of seed in the ground;
  • Troubleshoot problems and perform basic mechanical, electrical and preventative maintenance on field equipment;
  • Document accurate records of all agronomic activities associated to each field and farm using farm management software;
  • Proficiency in use of Microsoft applications such as Excel, Outlook, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Assist in other projects and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

 

  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Proficient operation of computers and mobile devices;
  • Ability to work without direct supervision in a diverse team environment;
  • Ability to balance and prioritize tasks during peak seasons, along with working extended hours as needed;
  • Experience in farm equipment operation;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Valid driver’s license;
  • Ability to lift up to 60Ibs.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Associates or Bachelor’s Degree;
  • Strong foresight, planning, prioritization and organization skills;
  • Broad knowledge of crop production and farming practices as well as farm equipment operation and repair;
  • Experience with GIS, GPS and other advanced agronomic technologies;
  • Demonstrated record of process improvements and innovation;
  • Precision planting experience;
  • Strong safety culture.
