The Microsoft Quantum program strives to fundamentally change the world of computing in order to help solve humankind’s currently unsolvable problems. We are on the cusp of an accelerated effort in quantum computing. This position offers an opportunity to have a meaningful influence on a revolutionary technology. The research effort includes a diverse staff of theoretical and experimental physicists, hardware designers and software engineers around the world. Our Sydney lab, based at the University of Sydney, is looking for an experienced Senior ASIC Engineer to bring life to new research and be a leader in the field of quantum computing.
Responsibilities
This role involves deep, hands-on technical work in a small, collaborative, environment. We are looking for someone who is as passionate about their own contribution as they are empowering and inspiring others. This person will be responsible for contributing to the technical direction of the research based on experimental results, program needs and the input from cross-functional colleagues.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Design and implementation of ASICs for control and readout of quantum circuits
- Development of hardware design and test documentation.
- Participate in the full development lifecycle including specification, estimation, design, simulation, layout, post-layout simulation, design verification and validation, integration, test.
- Setting lab best practices and protocols
- Working in accordance to health and safety policies and take care that your actions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.
- Ensure hazards and risks are identified and controlled for within your area of responsibility
Qualifications
Basic:
- Bachelor (4 year or Honours) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in analog, digital and mixed signal ASIC design.
- Experience with building test electronic setups, PCB design, and data capture using Python.
- Experience performing cryogenic measurements using dilution refrigerators.
- Deep knowledge of semiconductor device physics.
Desired Skills:
- Masters or PhD in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering
- Knowledge of solid-state quantum computing technologies.
- Ability to work independently without supervision.
- Excellent team player and good communication skills.
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to new situations in a rapidly changing research environment.
- Demonstrated experience with report writing and documentation
