Eaton’s Vehicle Division is currently seeking a Senior Accountant – Government Accounting and Finance, located at our Galesburg, MI location. The primary responsibility of this position is to support all financial accounting and compliance activities associated with cost reimbursement government contracts. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker, detailed, highly analytical, process improvement oriented, and demonstrates the drive and people capability to deliver results within a global, growing, and profitable business. The individual must be able to work collaboratively with multiple functions across multiple groups to drive consistency and compliance. The ideal candidate should have an understanding of the cost principles within Part 31 of the Federal Acquisition Regulation and the Cost Accounting Standards ("CAS"). Essential Functions: Supports all financial and auditing activities related to Vehicle Group and eMobility cost type R&D contracts with the Department of Energy (DOE) and Department of Defense (DOD). Completes closing requirements including booking project based journal entries, preparing month-end project spending and labor reports, reviewing materials/supply purchases and coordination of monthly external invoicing. Prepares project plans and forecasts for government programs and products proceeding technology. Oversees Vehicle Group and eMobility time keeping processes to ensure compliance with DCAA standards including timecard training, timecard audits for completeness and correctness, portfolio project classification audits, employee record audits, work instruction updates and records retention for annual training. Prepares provisional billing rates for eMobility and Vehicle Group businesses by calculating direct labor, completing overhead rate schedules, and analyzing assumptions relating to direct vs indirect time. Assist in preparing the annual Incurred Cost Submissions for Vehicle Group and eMobility. Ensure supporting schedules (e.g., Indirect Cost Pools, Claimed Allocation Base, and Certificate of Indirect Costs) accurately support the Incurred Cost Submission. Assists ledger owners to ensure that government accounting processes are maintained by the site including segregation of direct vs indirect project costs in the GL, segregation of allowable vs unallowable expenses in the GL and compliance proper account usage per Eaton’s chart of account. Work closely with engineering, accounting staff, contract teams, company attorneys, and compliance to ensure that company proposals, billings and claims comply with Government contract cost accounting regulations and that costs charged to the Government are allocable and allowable. Oversee Vehicle Group and eMobility accounting practices to ensure adequacy of company government accounting and business systems and implement corrective actions proactively to address gaps and/or non-compliance. Supports compliance work collaboratively with Corporate Government Compliance to respond to audits by Government oversight agencies. Maintain awareness of issues concerning FAR, DFAR and CAS, disseminating guidance and embedding within policies & procedures as appropriate. Engage with broader Eaton Government Contracts organization, including accounting, contracts, and compliance to share best practices.
