Job Description

South China region currently incorporates the main business in Hong Kong along with subsidiaries in Macau and Shenzhen.

Finance business partner

  • Act as trusted commercial adviser to South China MD and business unit (“BU”) leaders
  • Provide commercial input to bids and tenders (pricing, managing foreign exchange and tax risks etc) including benchmarking against previous tenders
  • Provide critical finance review of business budgets and forecasts
  • Interpret finance data to provide commercial analysis which contributes to business tactics and strategy
  • Liaise with BU Leaders & HR in transfers and remuneration issues to support on financial matters
  • Track critical commercial actions and provide regular updates on status
  • Drive improvement in financial management by operational managers and directors through:
    • Informal coaching and formal training
    • Performance monitoring and escalation of underperformance as needed
  • Assist in intercompany service arrangement between regional offices

Team leadership

  • Manage South China finance team
  • Develop team members in conjunction with the Group’s talent and performance management programmes
  • Manage resources to ensure a balanced workload for all team members
  • Delegate work effectively to allow development of team members and to manage personal workload

Management Accounting

  • Manage monthly management reporting process for South China businesses (accounts, forecasts, KPI’s etc)
  • Act as interface with Asia finance team
  • Assist in preparing monthly presentation in management meeting
  • Produce and review monthly report to review the profitability
  • Manage preparation of ad hoc management information as requested by Asia FD or South China MD

Bookkeeping

  • Ensure accurate books and records are maintained for each entity
  • Ensure that appropriate accounting controls are maintained to protect company assets and ensure completeness and accuracy of accounting information
  • Develop understanding of internal finance systems to become a subject matter expert for other users
  • Assure performance of outsourced accounting work by internal (India team) and external (e.g. CGEY in Shenzhen) providers

Cashflow

  • Preparing weekly cash flow statements, and controlling expenditure and cash flow
  • Regular review with Treasury Team on cash position to ensure each entity in South China is with sufficient cash for daily operations
  • Assist Credit Control Team and BU Leaders in reviewing and recovering from long outstanding debts

Financial Accounting

  • Manage annual year end accounts process for all companies in South China businesses
  • Manage monthly ‘statutory’ reporting to Group Finance team in the UK
  • Act as main escalation point for external auditors
  • Own relationship with third party accounting advisers as needed
  • Ensure all statutory filings are completed on time
  • Ensure that all statutory filings reconcile to local accounting records and management accounting information
  • Review monthly payroll report and pension contribution report

Tax

  • Manage tax compliance for South China businesses: Corporate income tax, sales tax (i.e. GST, VAT, Consumption tax etc), Payroll tax (e.g. salaries tax, IIT), Withholding tax
  • Own relationship with third party tax advisers
  • Ensure all tax fillings and payments are submitted on time
  • Manage any tax investigations in conjunction with third party advisers
  • Develop understanding of cross border tax issues (e.g. Withholding tax) in order to provide guidance as to commercial implications when deploying staff into different countries within NEA and outside the region

 

Qualifications

  • Fluent in Cantonese, English and Mandarin
  • External audit experience preferred
  • Accounting qualification (CPA, ACA, ACCA etc)
  • Minimum of 4 - 6 years’ experience
  • Candidate who are keen but with less working experience will be considered as Accountant level.
