The opportunity:
We have an opportunity for a nearly or newly qualified Actuary to drive positive change and provide quality support throughout the business. Reporting to the Senior Pricing Actuary, you’ll join a talented team that are driven to make a difference and where learning opportunities are plentiful.
About the role:
Contribute to a health and wellness ecosystem that sets us apart in the life insurance industry and enables customers to live Healthier, Longer, Better lives.
Collaborate with a broad range of stakeholders around the business to design and price sustainable products that meet customers’ needs.
Determine and implement premium rates for new and existing products on a profitable basis after consideration of shareholder profitability, customer value and market position.
Gain expertise in both Retail and Group pricing and underwriting.
Contribute to ongoing product management through product reviews, competitiveness monitoring and industry engagement.
Perform and oversee experience investigations and assumption setting.
Engage with reinsurers regarding pricing and product decisions.
Provide guidance and leadership to analysts within the team.
Join an actuarial professional network covering New Zealand, Australia and beyond.
Become proficient in the use of the technical software packages including Prophet, Glean, Access, Excel and SQL.
Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and risk management
Provide support as required to other areas of AIA including Finance, Claims and Underwriting.
Perform other responsibilities and duties periodically assigned by your manager to meet reasonable operational and/or other requirements.
About you:
Experience in a pricing and/or product role in the insurance or financial services sector.
Experience performing assumption reviews and determining financial impacts.
Strong technical skills including in the use of Prophet, SQL and Excel.
Ability to learn new concepts, e.g. business rules, regulatory and professional standards, modelling techniques, software packages, etc.
Comply with continuing professional development requirements and professional standards of the relevant actuarial body.
Good communication skills, both written and oral.
Ability to think and work independently.
Strong stakeholder management skills.
