The opportunity:
We have an opportunity for a Senior Actuarial Analyst to join the Actuarial Systems team. Reporting to an Actuary, this role is part of a highly performing Actuarial team within the wider Financial Services division. The team are looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst to provide actuarial support, including development, implementation, maintenance and governance of AIA NZ’s actuarial models and processes, provide management support for the actuarial model environment.
About the role:
Effectively lead and provide support to projects (including management of the scope, timelines, deliverables, project team and stakeholders) and to business as usual tasks across the AS function as well as other aspects of actuarial work including:
Experience investigations
Valuations
Financial and regulatory reporting
Investments
Finance
Risk management
Capital and reinsurance
You'll also:
Effectively manage and mentor actuarial analysts
Develop and use software skills including AIA’s systems, SQL, MS Office package, Prophet, Glean, DCS and R
Extract, reconcile, manipulate and analyse data and develop draft insights and results for actuaries and senior actuaries
Review work completed by actuarial analysts and other senior actuarial analysts and recommend draft insights and results to actuaries and senior actuaries
Maintain existing tools, models, systems, processes, methodologies and documentation and proactively contribute to their improvement and development
Communicate and present technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
Start engaging with teams across AIA and contributing to the broader business
Start building effective relationships across Financial Services, Product and other teams
Proactively take ownership of emerging issues and challenges
About you:
Strong business acumen and ability to deal with ambiguity
Highly motivated and results-driven
Developing project and team management skills (including the ability to scope and plan projects, time management, delegation of tasks, leadership, mentoring of junior staff etc.)
Ability to think and work independently and challenge assumptions, processes and results
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Proven ability to engage with non-actuarial stakeholders and business partners
Proven ability to meet deadlines
Knowledge and understanding of theory and practice across at least some aspects of actuarial work (e.g. experience investigations, pricing, valuations, solvency and capital management, reinsurance, predictive modelling etc.)
Proven strong technical skills including software skills (including AIA systems, SQL, MS Office package, Prophet, Glean, DCS and R) and analytical skills
Financial services industry experience (ideally life or health insurance, but other financial services experience will be also considered)
At least two years’ experience in actuarial roles
Passed Actuarial Part 1 and Part 2 actuarial exams, or their equivalent and are continuing with professional development requirements and professional standards of the relevant actuarial body
