The opportunity:

We have an opportunity for Senior Actuarial Analyst to join the Financial Reporting team. You’ll report to a Senior Actuary and will be in a role where there’s opportunities to make your mark where learning opportunities are plentiful.

This role is about delivering financial insights and value-add reporting to the business. You’ll be involved in enhancing and developing financial reporting processes that deliver pertinent and accurate information efficiently.

About the role:

  • Claims reporting

    • Measure the claims experience

    • Provide regular claims reporting and commentary to key and senior stakeholders

    • Enhance the claims reporting infrastructure

  • Strategic planning

    • Produce the projections of operating profit, sensitivities and other financial metrics for the strategic planning process

    • Enhance the strategic planning infrastructure to improve automation and greater levels of insight

  • Other reporting and testing

    • Assist with setting up Prophet runs and analysis of financial results other than claims reporting where required.

    • Assist with the implementation and interpretation of assumption changes and other reserving.

    • Assisting with the testing of claims systems where required.

About you:

  • Passed Part 1 and nearing completion if not already of Part 2 actuarial exams

  • The ability to think and work independently, and challenge assumptions, processes and results

  • Proven ability to engage with non-actuarial stakeholders and business partners

  • Knowledge and understanding of theory and practice across at least some aspects of actuarial work (e.g. experience investigations, pricing, valuations, solvency and capital management, reinsurance, predictive modeling etc.)

  • Solid technical skills including software skills (such as Prophet, Glean, DCS and R)

  • Financial services industry experience

  • Understanding of NZ life insurance legislative and statutory requirements
