Job Description
As part of the Office of the CIO (OCIO), this role is to support integration of Strategy, Portfolio, Business Performance and Continuous Improvement through data analyses. The group is responsible for managing the IT Investment Portfolio, delivering a structured Business Performance reporting model, and driving process improvements. Also, the team manages the delivery of a robust performance reporting suite, standardizing scorecard objectives, defining financial targets, and optimizing operational effectiveness while mitigating risk.
The Associate Manager will provide the AZ IT org with an accurate analysis of performance that links to metrics / key performance indicators and highlights opportunities for greater strategic alignment. The scope of the role cascades across all IT functions and encapsulates key domain support across manpower, portfolio, risk, customer strategy, and supplier performance.
Role and Responsibilities
- Support the assessment of all aspects of business performance in the functional area. Reports on business performance and trends so the ITLT understand business performance against key indicators, risks, and actions to mitigate risks.
- Directly assists with the development of solutions to problems identified through business performance data.
- Produces/collates portfolio financials and data needed for informed decision-making.
- Support the functional area’s scorecard, ensuring alignment with the wider IT reporting frameworks. Manage complex data collation across activities and from multiple sources to enable regular scorecard production.
- Support functional/central activities such as resourcing, forecasting, non-FTE labour management, strategic capability uplift, development activities and related budget oversight.
- Provide support to all IT Business Performance teams through data collation, data cleansing, analysis, and delivery of structured reporting outputs.
- Support performance-related communications with the leadership team to ensure full awareness of performance objectives, metrics and indicators
- Works collaboratively with:
Key areas (e.g. other Business Performance areas, Project teams, Service teams etc.) to measure performance against key indicators, identify risks and trends and provide updates on in-flight or planned activities. Functional leadership and wider IT team oversight to ensure full awareness of performance standards to identify and initiate improvement actions to reinforce a continuous improvement culture.
Essential Skills and experience
- Knowledge of IT activities and a basic understanding of technology terminology
- Strong analytical background with excellent Excel skills
- Working knowledge of BI tools (Power BI, Qliksense, MicroStrategy)
- Good communication (both written & oral) and organizational skills
- Ability to prioritize, re-schedule or adapt to changes
- Strong customer service and problem-solving orientation
- A self-starter with high levels of drive, energy, resilience, and a desire for professional excellence
- Ability to work well in diverse, multinational teams, and ability to influence others to achieve positive outcomes
- Ability to interpret and communicate technical information into business language
- Continuous Improvement mindset with an ability to improve existing analysis and processes
Desirable Skills and experience
- BA/BSc Degree
- Knowledge of new and emerging business performance management approaches and application
- Working knowledge of Analysis tools (R, Predictive Workbench, Python)
- Experience with benchmarking and deriving insights from structured data sets
- Experience of automating data capture and reporting e.g. moving from spreadsheets into more graphic visualizations/dashboards
- Understanding of Machine Learning.
