BCG Digital Ventures is building a digital eyewear startup in Shanghai with one of the world’s leading technology companies in the optics space. We will be the first to provide a digitally connected end-to-end vision care solution that is tailored to the lives of modern-day professionals. Leveraging advanced technologies in Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, and Mobile Software Development, our product will enable everyday professionals to reliably and easily track the health of their eyes and obtain spectacles that best match their needs and personality. 

As we continue to grow, we are looking for experienced Android Engineer who will be responsible for building the application on the Android platform. 

What you will do 

• Leveraging your deep Android experience, build the android app from scratch using Kotlin
• Demonstrate expert knowledge of MVC design patterns, OOP and development best practices
• Serve a central role in designing and building Android apps (groundwork, infrastructure and product discussions) from start to finish
• Be responsible for releasing the app to the respective app stores, and scaling it to multiple cities in China
• Share technical solutions and product ideas through design review, pair programming, code reviewand technological discussions , and mentor less experienced members of the team

Requirements

• Good communication skills in both English and Chinese
• 4+ years of experience in Android development
• Degree in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience
• Good knowledge of the Java/Kotlin programming language
• Good knowledge of Web services, REST and JSON interfaces
• A background designing and building mobile applications that utilize REST services
• Experience of working with team members to encourage the writing of clean, elegant code using unit testing approaches
• Experience of distribution of android apps in China
• Knowledge of how to set up development environments, source control and continuous integration processes
• Experience with ARCore, a basic understanding of backend services, and knowledge of iOS is a bonus but not essential
