The Role
The successful Senior Applications Engineering Manager is a recognized Automotive industry technical and business expert who leads a high-performing team of Application Engineers to ensure customer technical success. You will be a trusted technical partner who helps our customers apply NI’s platform technology to solve some of the most ambitious challenges in applications such as: Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), Connected Vehicle, Electronic Vehicles (EVs), Model Based Design and Hardware in the Loop (HIL).
The APAC Applications Engineering organization is undergoing an exciting evolution. We need strong leaders with industry domain expertise to better serve our customers and grow key areas of the business. The Senior Applications Engineering Manager, Transportation/Automotive is an APAC-wide role, reporting to the regional Director.
Locations: Tokyo, Seoul, Shanghai preferred
Key Responsibilities
- Attract, motivate and retain a high-performance team of Application Engineers across APAC
- Ensure technical success of customers, Sales colleagues, and partners
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing counterparts to identify application focus areas and equip/develop appropriate skillset in team
- Partner with Sales to strategize and execute account plans to drive business growth
- Recommend and execute support and services treatment strategy for key accounts
- Feedback customer insight to improve future product offerings
Key Performance Objectives
- Customer technical success, measured by design wins, platform adoption, repeat business
- Achievement of key sales objectives
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors or Masters degree in relevant STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) field
- 10+ years of relevant Transportation/Automotive industry experience
- Deep technical knowledge in the areas of Validation and/or Production Test
- Understanding of Automotive industry structure (OEM, Tiered supplier)
- 5+ years management experience
- Strong track record of building and leading high performing teams
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Proficient in English and at least one other key regional language (Japanese, Korean, Mandarin
preferred)
- Willing and able to travel up to 25%, primarily within APAC and occasionally the USA
Preferred Qualifications
- Technical domain expertise in Advanced Driver-Assistance Systems (ADAS), Connected Vehicle,
Electronic Vehicles (EVs), Model Based Design and/or Hardware in the Loop (HIL).
- Knowledge of National Instruments software and hardware platform, including: LabVIEW, Veristand, PXI
