Job Summary

Amgen’s Therapeutic Discovery organization is seeking a collaborative Senior Associate to join the Protein Technologies group at our South San Francisco site. Protein Technologies is responsible for designing, planning and executing on the generation of key enabling reagents to support early discovery of small and large molecule therapeutics and groundbreaking modalities.

The Senior Research Associate will be a part of a multidisciplinary team with capabilities in molecular engineering, cloning, expression and purification of proteins, including antibodies, bispecifics and membrane proteins.  We seek a candidate with broad laboratory training, deep scientific curiosity and a positive approach to working in a team-based research environment along with a track record of creative problem-solving and enthusiasm for taking on difficult research challenges.

Basic Qualifications

Master’s degree

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of related scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven microbiology skills culturing E. coli or yeast
  • Detailed knowledge in recombinant protein expression and purification (including affinity, ion exchange, SEC)
  • Biochemistry analytical experience (SDS PAGE, Western Blot, HPLC)
  • Familiarity with chromatography hardware and software (GE AKTA, Agilent HPLC)
  • Strong written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Desire to be a team player in a dynamic, cross-functional environment
  • Demonstrated scientific analysis and problem-solving skills
