Job Summary

Amgen is searching for a Senior Associate, Finance who will play a key role in financial support of the Global Commercial Operations (GCO) organization. The Senior Associate will be part of the GCO Finance team and help support financial consolidation of worldwide Amgen sales. This role will report to the Senior Manager, Finance in the GCO Finance group. The position will be based at the corporate campus in Thousand Oaks, CA.

Key activities for the Senior Associate, Finance include:

  • Performs financial modeling, preparation of materials to support the quarterly earnings process and quarter close
  • Assists in financial planning processes for quarterly forecasts, annual budgets and long range plans
  • Preparation and presentation of results and ideas to senior management, and providing key financial support and analysis on an ad hoc basis to help drive and improve business performance
  • Demonstrates the ability to closely follow instructions for ongoing requirements, but also show the ability to take initiative after an initial set of directions; will provide key support on multiple projects; will be an integral part of cross-functional teams; will formulate and clearly deliver complex information, issues and recommendations in both written and oral presentations to Finance Management; will develop and use complex business and financial models to help make decisions.

Basic Qualifications

Master’s degree

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 2 years of Finance/Accounting experience

OR

Associate degree and 6 years of Finance/Accounting experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Finance/Accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Pharmaceutical/Biotech experience
  • Prior experience with corporate planning software and strong proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint
  • Detail oriented; excellent analytical and math skills
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to thrive in ambiguous situations and team environment
  • Able to take the initiative and work under a minimum of direction
