Senior Associate Scientist – Cell and Molecular Biologist

What you will do
Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be apart of Amgen’s Induced Proximity Platform (IPP). The IPP is charged with developing Amgen’s newest drug modalities that leverage proximity biology to tackle the undruggable genome. Examples include, Targeted Protein Degradation modalities such as PROTACs and molecular GLUEs. The IPP is seeking a creative, emerging scientific leader to discover and develop novel therapies for cancer and other therapeutic areas.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop platforms and modalities to impact challenging targets across multiple therapeutic areas, including oncology and immuno-oncology.
- The IPP takes innovative, cross-discipline approaches that leverage native cellular mechanisms to tackle the toughest targets. Thus, those candidates with particular interest to apply their knowledge to an emerging field of proximity biology is of high interest.
- Lead a project to support discovery and development of novel therapeutic modalities.
- Set project goals and timelines, design, perform and analyze experiments, interact with team members across different departments and research sites, and communicate and present data to department leadership.
- Inform departmental goals and strategy and will represent the department in various cross-functional activities including academic collaborations, external research evaluations, project teams, and scientific committees.
- The candidate will also be expected to contribute to the scientific community through conference presentations and impactful publications.

Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree or
Master’s degree and 4 years of relevant scientific experience or
Bachelor’s degree and 6 years of relevant scientific experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Broad knowledge of cell and molecular biology with demonstrated research eminence through first author publications in top journals
- Research experience with biochemical, biophysical, molecular and cellular techniques, including enzyme and cell assay development, characterization of protein modification and turnover, and mechanistic studies of enzymes
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills
- Flexibility to work in teams to achieve changing project goals and meet timelines
