We are seeking a senior associate scientist to join the Structural Biology Department at our site in South San Francisco, CA.  The Structural Biology laboratory provides comprehensive molecular insights and structure-based design for drug-target assessment, mechanism of action, protein-protein and protein-ligand interactions, as well as protein engineering to facilitate drug discovery across various therapeutic areas. The scientist will be part of a growing structure biology group and will be responsible for designing and purifying target proteins for X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy, data collection and structure determination of complex molecular structures.

Basic Qualifications:

Master’s degree and 3 years of structural biology experience

OR

Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of structural biology experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of state-of-the-art X-ray crystallography including construct design, expression, purification, characterization, crystallization, structure determination and modelling.
  • Research experience in large macromolecular complexes.
  • Experience in single particle cryo-EM technology including grid freezing and screening, data collection and processing, three-dimensional reconstruction and model building.
  • Excellent presentation skills (written and oral) that improve team-based collaboration.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively within timelines and to collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Skills in managing multiple projects and capabilities to prioritize.
