Amgen’s Molecular Targeting and Delivery Group in the Genome Analysis Unit is seeking a Sr. Associate Scientist for a position based in Thousand Oaks, CA with possible assigned duties in South San Francisco, CA. In this vital and largely lab-based role you will be responsible for:
- Generation and purification of viruses, virus QC as well as designing and cloning plasmids for virus production.
- Driving cutting-edge technology development impacting virus production.
- Working cross-functionally and across Amgen sites, utilizing virology knowledge and techniques to help drive Amgen’s pipeline forward.

Basic Qualifications
Master's degree in Virology, Biology, Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences and 3 years experience
Or
Bachelor's degree in Virology, Biology, Pharmaceutical or Life Sciences and 5 years experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Virology, Biology, Pharmaceutical or Life Science and 3 years experience
- Strong theoretical understanding and hands-on experience in virus production, especially adeno-associated virus and lentivirus, and experiences with upstream and downstream processing of virus production.
- Experience in virus/protein purification and chromatographic techniques/instrumentation.
- Experience in molecular cloning techniques.
- Demonstrate independence and ability to produce quality results under minimal direction.
- Generate complete, accurate, and concise documentation using electronic systems and laboratory notebook.
- High energy individual who can multi-task and handle a fast-pace, dynamic work environment.
- Perform general laboratory housekeeping activities.
