The (Senior) Bike, Development Engineer / Technician is to oversee every stage of product development starting from research and development of the original concept to mass production while ensuring that the product arrives at the appropriate outlet on time and in sufficient quantity and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work with the development team in US, vendors and colleagues in China closely on various brands of development

• Oversee and monitor product development in order to meet the schedule from beginning stage until mass production and delivery. Update and maintain detailed Development Tracking Report (DTR) for all models using timelines with specific target dates to ensure samples are delivered according to schedule.
  

• To identify key process issues and potential production issues to the U.S. team early, providing alternative solutions to the issues. Communications with suppliers regarding engineering changes of drawings, materials, delivery problems, etc.
• Responsible for overseeing Salesman Sample production and identifying production issues or efficiencies to the US team and Factory team.
• Continuously update product specification sheets during development and upload final approval
• Help US operation group to monitor vendor KPI's (Key Performance Indicators). Create and distribute a monthly VPR (Vendor Performance Report).
• Oversee upstream QC and Product Correctness. Able to catch issue, make corrections and report this back to the Product Developer. Coordinate and communicate with QC Team regarding to each product and potential issues during the manufacturing process.
• Work out main inspection points for inline and final inspection for the QC inspection.
• Assist in vendor sourcing and evaluation of materials / parts of the products. Reviews materials and parts for durability, quality and color accuracy. Over sight to factory testing, and that this person would report this back to the US Dev team.
• Work on cost reduction solutions together with the US Developer.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Good knowledge of Bike Frame Development / Bike Development Process

• Ability to review AI design drawings. To check and correct drawings and prototypes to communicate concepts effectively to vendors.

• Ability to review 2D / 3D engineering drawings for accuracy.

• Strong understanding of and experience on metal welding, knowledge on quality and production process control, preferable with injection, assembling and manufacturing experience.
• Ability to communicate and present clearly and confidently with all levels of management
• Ability to skillfully negotiate in tough situations with both internal and external groups
• Exceptional project management skill and troubleshooting on product
• Proficiency in office software and experience on 3D software, e.g. Solid Works / Pro-E
• Basic knowledge in costing.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor degree or equivalent
• 5+ years of experience in the area(s) in hardline product development, preferably in Bicycle industries
• Proficient in MS Office; Word, Excel, Illustrator and Photoshop. Able to understand 2D drawings and 3D models is a plus
• Fluent in written and spoken English and Putonghua
• Ability to travel independently and for extended periods
