Position Summary:  Senior Business Development Executive - Viral Vector, New England

Our Senior Business Development Executive (BDE) focused on Viral Vector Services has a multi-faceted role in our organization. This person will drive sales revenue growth through the development and implementation of strategies to generate sales from new and existing accounts in an assigned geography. Builds an internal network that enables client success. Identifies new target clients and target molecules and follows through on leads from a variety of sources. Focuses on new projects within the Gene and Cell Therapy Clients based in New England with a focus on viral vector manufacturing services (process development, cGMP clinical and commercial manufacturing services).

Based remotely in the Boston Metro area to cover New England.

What will you do?    

  • New Business Development including identifying new molecule opportunities with new or existing clients through understanding of the market, appointment based strategic selling, leveraging personal network, interaction with other PSG (Pharma Services Group) and Thermo Fisher Scientific teams and following up on leads.
  • Creating and executing sales programs for new prospective clients to increase awareness of our service offering and key differentiators from our competition.
  • Ability to analyze and understand funding mechanisms and sources and flow of funding for the small emerging biotech element of the territory.
  • Attends tradeshows/ conferences/ seminars to increase awareness of our broader capabilities and as a source of lead generation.
  • Identifying and presenting our value proposition, including opportunities for strategic bundling of our services.
  • Manages the ongoing relationship with existing clients.
  • Enables winning quotations and has a key role to play in the contract negotiation phase.
  • Manages, updates, maintains and records all relevant activities in the CRM database, and shares information and background on prospective clients within the territory to our stakeholders.
 How will you get here?
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as micro-biology, cellular biology, or chemistry required.
  • Process Development/Commercial manufacturing experience in biologics is preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience performing and/or selling biologics, including but not limited to selling vaccines, blood, or blood components, allergenics, somatic cells, gene therapies, tissues, recombinant therapeutic protein, and living cells used in cell therapy.
  • Leadership experience in an aggressively growing business climate.
  • Established contacts in major pharmaceutical organizations.
  • Professional presentation skills and ability to network within senior management ranks.
  • Travel ~20%.
