Job Description

Office Hours: Mon-Fri, 8am to 515pm
Location: Marsiling, Singapore (8-10 mins walk from Woodlands MRT / bus interchange)
Reporting to: Procurement & Sourcing Manager based in US

What will you do?

  • The Buyer/Planner will be part of a global team who will perform all functions needed to ensure the lowest total cost of purchased finished goods by ensuring the objectives of maximum product availability and quality with optimum inventory levels.
  • Manage a specific set of suppliers and participate in negotiations to implement proactive production philosophies, improved pricing strategies and policies, and procedures for successful integration into multiple business plans across a global supply chain.
  • Prepare data and analyzing inventory trends, external and internal key performance metrics, and proposing process improvement and the generation or management of key reports, metrics, and projects.
  • This is a service position and is responsive to the needs of internal and external suppliers and customers. The role includes team participation.

 
 
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or technical discipline or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 5 years business experience, CPIM or CSCP certification preferred
  • Advanced skills in Excel, E1 and/or SAP ERP systems
 
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Knowledge of supply planning processes, total cost of ownership.
  • Understand buying and planning policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate knowledge of business concepts/principles (terms and conditions, transportation, accounting)
  • Knowledge of supply chain programs and the ability to manage project execution of these programs.
  • Responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing strategic and optimal supply plans.
  • MRP and ERP experience in a global distribution and/or manufacturing environment.
  • Evaluate and maintain to key performance indicators: inventory targets, on time delivery, backorders, and price variance
  • Drive KPI improvements through strategic initiatives.
  • Communicates effectively with business leads, demand and distribution planning to assure supply.
  • Recognize problems, analyze and recommend solutions.
  • Optimize supply chain to minimize waste.
  • Participate in New Product Introduction process to include new product set up, MRP settings and specification requirements.
  • Process improvement and continual improvement philosophies.
  • Performs assignments independently with guidance from management and team support.
  • Able to manage and prioritize own time. Provides feedback and periodic updates to managers on status of goals and responsibilities.
  • All other duties as required or assigned.

Use of skills as an experienced professional with an understanding of industry practices and company policies and procedures. This position is a qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position. Participation with others to establish best practices and achieve optimal performance.

Makes decisions on administrative or operational matters and ensures effective achievement of operation’s objectives.  Must demonstrate good judgment, tact and diplomacy in dealing with internal and external business partners.

Exercises judgment within broadly defined practices and policies. Selects methods and techniques of obtaining solutions to problems of relatively routine to diverse scope and moderate to highly complexity, requiring analysis of identifiable factors.

Has contact and exchanges information with all levels of company employees and suppliers. Drives a strategic vision of procurement through a diverse set of stakeholders including supplier partners, manufacturing, planning, technical, quality, and distribution network. Works and communicates with external business partners on subject matter that can carry significant impacts to the business.
