Senior Buyer (Strategic Sourcing)
Drive the sourcing process to secure prodcusr to ensure competitiveness and to limit risk for Kohler:
Ensure clear definition of specification is prepared
Recommend alternative solutions based on industry and market knowledge
Obtain and review supplier quotations/proposals and make clear recommendations
Work with the Legal Dept to draft contractual terms and conditions to insure business needs are met and with consideration of business law and intellectual property
Negotiate global supplier agreements with appropriate terms to ensure continuity and cost reductions
Develop the sourcing strategy within assigned areas of spend
Regularly meet with business managers to help identify current and future sourcing needs
Perform analysis of spend in relation to economic indicators and commodity prices
Set projected standard costs annually
Identify strategic opportunities for global cooperation among business unit divisions
Drive total cost reduction programs such as value engineering, payment terms, warehousing agreements, and quality performance improvements
Utilize cost breakdown details to reduce cost based on design optimization and lean concepts
Lead the supplier approval and management process
Establish and maintain relationships with key influencrs at the suppliers
Visit supplier’s facilities and lead team member in assessment and onboarding
Manage engineering changes for cost and/or quality improvements
Maintain ongoing supplier performance data for periodic internal/external review
Direct regular supplier performance reviews and development of improvement plans
Maintain required records such as quotes, price lists, tooling, supplier correspondence, contracts, and purchasing metric dashboards
Interact with cross-divisional and cross regional buyers, supplier quality, materials management, engineering and operations as part of the supplier management process
Skills/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Purchasing, Operations or Supply Chain Management. Experiance in technical purchasing projects, and quality assurance follow up, which involved close liaison with marketing and new product development. Must possess expert knowledge in negotiating, problem-solving, and statistical techniques.
Self-starter, ability to work independently, collaborates with teams, and in a lead role.
Builds effective working relationships quickly in a cross-functional team environment.
Communicates well at all levels of organization with strong written, verbal and data presentation skills.
Fluent in written and spoken English and Mandarin.
Analytical with a high degree of problem solving skills and attention to detail.
Well organized, manages time and projects effectively.
Creative problem solver with demonstrated expertise in applied lean process improvement
Skilled as a teacher and mentor to facilitate the effective transfer of knowledge.
Cultural sensitivity between Chinese & American associates and business entities.
