ABOUT SAP HANA

SAP HANA is SAP’s ground-breaking in-memory database platform. It provides a powerful foundation for existing SAP products as well as for new applications on device, in the cloud and on premise.

SAP HANA’s cutting-edge technology for main memory, multi-core processing, and data management enables real-time analysis in combination with online transactional processing of business data.

 

We want to strengthen SAP HANA’s position as a first-class cloud citizen, as the cloud and database as a service (DBaaS) are gaining in importance.

 

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for analyzing reliability of database-as-a-service and designing reliability verification scenarios in the perspective of end users
• Identify quality requirements, corporate standards, and key performance indicators to be established as parts of cloud service development process
• Develop cloud service testing framework (like Chaos Monkey) to sure reliability automatically
• Communicate with service development team and understand the architecture and behaviors
• Provide feedback on usability and serviceability, track quality risk and report
• Work closely with cloud service architects, database kernel developers, security experts, quality engineers, service operations team. Work closely with a distributed team over several international locations
•  Work in Agile Software Development methodology, ensure deliverables to meet quality standards, specs, and user expectations

 

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Strong analytical skills, ability to structure complex problems, and to do conceptual work
• Understanding on large-scale cloud service architecture and security model in cloud service
• Extensive understanding on DBMS internals such as lifecycle management, workload/SQL performance tuning, SQL/Stored procedure development, security, session, transaction, etc
• Understanding on database-as-a-service and microservice architecture
• Experience in cloud service operations in the context of DevOps, familiar with Docker, K8S, Git and Gerrit
• Experience in cloud service development languages such as Python, Go, Java, Javascript, Groovy, and Ruby, advanced Linux administration skills

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

• B.S./M.S. in Computer Science or related field
• High proficiency in spoken and written English

 

Nice to have

• Practical experience in technical writing and creating documentation would be considered as an advantage
