ABOUT THE ROLE

• Ensure the existence of data standards (i.e. naming convention and standard structures), and their application across the resources leveraging the platform.
• Collaborate with data engineers from global teams to define and improve data standards and to standardize common data structures across global solutions
• Understand & drive adoption of existing data model management tools (i.e. Idera, Collibra data catalog, Confluence documentation, etc) across the IM COE and vendors working on the platform.
• Participates in the platform Design Authority board to ensure that data & data model topics receive proper assessment and direction as part of approval.
• Ensures maintenance of the platform data model and related documentation (i.e. source-to-target-mapping and similar).
• Lead data assessment, data profiling, data modelling, and related activities as prioritized in collaboration with team management.
• Identify and drive opportunities for improvement in accessibility, reuse, standardization, FAIR-ification, quality, and overall evolution of the data management capabilities of the platform to meet the ever-evolving needs of consumers of the platform
• This role will not have formal direct reports; however, will be accountable to drive quality & task management responsibility with existing data modelling resources working on the IM Datahub platform. The expectation is that this non-direct report resource oversight will include ensuring alignment to standards, guidance to ensure deliverables meet short-term and long-term objectives, and ensuring high-quality consistency to task acceptance criteria.
• Understand and translate business needs into data models supporting long-term solutions

Other activities will include:

• Create, Optimize, and Update logical and physical data models to support new and existing projects
• Develop and evolve existing best practices for standard naming conventions and data management practices to ensure consistent usage across the platform.
• Analyze data-related system integration challenges and propose appropriate solutions.
• Participate in the agile sprint activities of the release train driving this platform taking on delivery accountability for both spikes (i.e. research) and user stories that require data model, peer review, or data tasks including sql, etl, redshift admin, etc.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS REQUIRED

• Bachelors or Higher level education in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science or similar
• At least 5-7 years of experience working in data warehousing and business intelligence platforms.
• Strong SQL, DDL, ETL/ELT skills
• Extensive experience working with AWS data management capabilities – especially Redshift.
• Extensive dimension / fact table RDS data model experience along with experience establishing data partition strategies, SCD strategies, and data access performance strategies.
• Data model documentation & management experience using tools such as Idera, Erwin, or similar.
• Experience leading and coaching others to expand skills & deliver outstanding quality.
• Experience working effectively in a multi-cultural, distributed team
• Demonstrable experience working with 3rd party vendors & partners.
