R&D IT is a global IT capability supporting Drug Research, Drug Development, Product & Portfolio Strategy, Medical Affairs, Finance, HR, Compliance, Legal and Global Business Services. We are organized around 7 key capability areas: Business Partnering, Solution Delivery, Architecture, Application Support, Data & Analytics, Change & Operations, operating out of sites across the US, UK, Sweden, India and Mexico.

The Data & Analytics team provides technical support to analytics and data insight services and solutions critical to the Data & AI/ML emerging strategy and mission of R&D Science IT and AZ. Data & Analytics is organized into teams specializing in Information Architecture, Data Engineering, Visual Engineering, Knowledge Management, Data Science, Data Analysis and Information Governance.

Role

The R&D Data Foundation (RDF) is a key programme in AstraZeneca’s ‘Growth through Innovation’ strategy. It is tasked with building a capability that enables data science operations at scale and involves the creation of analytics-ready data that is compliant by design.

The programme will deliver a GxP validated data lake containing catalogued data that is searchable and can be transitioned into an environment enabling data analysis to be performed. The programme will also deliver tools to ensure compliance when accessing and using data.

The goal of the Track, Trae & Auditing (TTA) Workstream is to develop a complete understanding of R&D data lineage, from ingestion to insight, and to visualise this knowledge via dashboards and event notifications. The purpose is to reduce time taken to piece together the processing of data across several systems in order to understand who has accessed data.

Key Accountabilities

This BA role is within the Track, Trace & Audit workstream of the RDF programme. TTA workstream is looking to perform a PoC using Splunk for visualisation of data lineage and data usage. Data logs will be gathered from different data sources and will be indexed in Splunk to be able to give the Compliance Team within R&D Data Office capabilities and tool to perform analysis of who used what data for what purpose and when.

The business analyst will specifically be:

• Working with stakeholders to understand their long-term goals the system and help define the scope to be delivered.
• Reviewing, refining and confirming prioritized scenarios to deliver
• Gathering requirements from Stakeholders and write comprehensible user stories to deliver to the agreed scope and plan
• Helping to confirm source system log format, and omitted fields which will impact traceability
• Gathering requirements to design compliance dashboards (UI requirements) to facilitate live, automatic monitoring

Highly Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Experience

• Requirements elicitation, analysis and documentation
• Use data modelling practises to analyse and share findings and create suggestions/recommendations for changes and improvements considering potential risks
• Identify processes and technology required to introduce these recommendations
• Stakeholder management, facilitating meetings/workshops and communications
• Experience of Agile process and tools in particular SAFe Agile working practices.
• Ability to work and support the technical team in delivering the recommended changes

General Key Points for the role:

• Understanding of as science and knowledge of Pharma R&D Value Chain including for example, chemistry and biologics.
• B.Tech/ M.Tech/MSc in Computer Science.
• A solid appreciation of what working with regulated computerized systems. Knowledge of GxP
• Need BA's that can stand on their own as a BA
• Minimum 3 years of BA experience
• IIBA or BCS certification valuable

Desirable Technical skills

In addition, these are the bonus skills (not mandatory) for this position:

• Experience of working with Cloud solutions, AWS
• Experience of Splunk tool or other tools used for monitoring/dashboards, e.g. Datadog or Grafana and visualization of data
• Experience of UX design would be an added advantage.
