Job Description

Job Profile
We are now looking to hire a ‘Group Manager’ in the ‘Corporates and Professional Services’ business unit, in which we provide services to two types of clients (categorized by industries):
• Corporates clients: clients across industry verticals (logistics, automotive, industrial manufacturing, FMCG, chemical and energy, information and communication technology, etc.)
• Professional services clients: consulting firms, tax and advisory firms, law firms, etc.
The Group Manager we are to hire will be leading the ‘Corporates’ team, with 25-30 people in total across practice teams led by dedicated managers, from which we provide research/consulting services of varying complexities for our clients (ranging from simple data-collection-intensive to data-analysis/insights-intensive projects).
Description of Role
• Project management
– Set project execution process for the group, and ensure all projects from the group are delivered at top quality
– Provide suggestions on deliverables and help project teams break intellectual bottlenecks (e.g., methodology and analytical framework, insights and recommendations, etc.)
• BD and client relationship management:
– Close involvement during proposal stage (along with practice leads): Diagnose client problems and design solutions
– Provide sales support from operation side: Identify new opportunities and recommend potential services and solutions based on client business situation
– Participate in strategic client meetings for new business and deliverable presentation for critical assignments
• Operation management
– Staffing management for projects: Allocate people with right skill sets (domain and functional expertise) on projects, based on project nature and client requirements
– Manage the utilization of the whole group
• Team / People Management
– Playing the role of mentor/coach for 3-15 direct reportees
– Evaluating the performance of reportees for annual appraisal
– Training reportees and other employees
Expected Qualifications & Skills
• Language skills (verbal and written):
– Excellent English language skills – verbal and written
– Chinese (native Chinese preferred; if not, should be proficient in Chinese)
• Degree (bachelors and/or master’s degree or equivalent)
• At least 7 years of experience in market/business research and/or consulting roles; should have experience in working on a variety of assignments (market entry/expansion studies; in-depth industry reports; supply chain studies; etc.)
• At least 3 years of experience as a project manager / team leader or any equivalent position
• Experience in the area of problem structuring, conducting issue/decision tree analysis, developing/validating hypotheses will be a plus
• High confidence
• Knowledge of different cultures and ability to work in an international environment
• Exceptional learning capabilities and a good work ethic
• Should be ready to work in a demanding and intellectually stimulating environment
• Excellent MS Office skills
• Excellent time management skills
• Positive attitude and solution orientation – people who only identify problems need not apply, we look for people who not only identify problems but also offer solutions
