Job Description
PRIMARY FUNCTION: Responsible for the control, processing and approval of Special Price Authorizations (SPAs) requested by sales employees and representatives. The Contract analyst is responsible for determining appropriate product pricing strategies using analytical tools, databases and pricing models. Develops and implements procedures to ensure that the special pricing terms are administered within company guidelines. Responsible for approval of pricing requests beyond sales discount authority levels. This position will work together with direct and indirect sales channel employees and product managers to ensure timely responses to customer pricing inquiries, proposals, and requests. Obtain historic usage data for pricing purposes and the validating such data that a clean dataset is established which will enable accurate pricing. The Contract Analyst will need to verify costing, risk assumptions and margin guidelines for various product options and ensure all SPAs are accurately set up. This position will handle the more routine analysis for new customer bids, rebids or margin management using established procedures and tools. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Approves and negotiates all quotations received from outside sales force. Relies on experience and margin analysis to determine quotation amount. If pricing requested is not appropriate, the request is rejected and returned to sales. Respond timely to the business opportunity as well as begin initial negotiations on pricing proposal terms. Coordinates the “flow” of contracts through the department from receipt to the generation of the contract letter to the customer. Perform price analysis on requests by client, product, market segments, etc. Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels of the organization and external constituencies, including (but not limited to) Sales Vice Presidents, Sales leaders, contract owners, Application Engineering, Credit, Customer Satisfaction and product managers to produce accurate, quality response to all SPAs. Research and analyze historical data calling out nuances of agreements, including deviations from standard terms and highlighting contract complexities. Ability to learn and apply new procedures quickly Utilize critical thinking skills to identify and solve complex business problems and ensure pricing processes and methodologies are defined and effectively applied Develop & maintain reporting tools to better support sales initiatives Maintain Pricing Service Level Agreements (SLA) at or above 95% Develop and maintain a general knowledge of most Bussmann products. Develop and maintain a general knowledge of market level pricing for Bussmann products. Ability to understand Bussmann’s sales and marketing strategies to determine appropriate pricing Ability to multi-task, prioritize and complete requests and assignments in a timely manner. Ability to handle change in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility to deal with interruptions, changing priorities, and deadlines. Well-developed skills in effectively and comfortably interacting with all levels of management, employees, internal and external customers, and outside contacts. Strong independent decision-making, problem-solving and collaborative skills. Detail oriented, well organized, and must work well in both a team and individual environment. Strong organizational and communication skills (written and verbal). Strong computer skills to quickly learn and utilize other computer software programs. #LI-AR7 Qualifications SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE: Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution OR prior pricing/contract experience of at least 3 years Relocation is not offered for this role.
