Senior Customer Manager – Target Petcare
Minneapolis, MN OR Franklin, TN
The Senior Customer Manager – Target Petcare is responsible for achieving profitable sales growth at Target for the Mars Petcare business. This role is expected to maintain strong internal/external relationships to best execute customer plans that deliver all assigned scorecard targets – GSV, NSV, Trade, SAM, Perfect Store, Share, & Customer JBP. This associate will own the day to day business management and also be responsible for driving the strategy and vision of the Target Petcare business. This associate will work in partnership with the local team and cross functional resources and manage the Target relationship at the Buyer level.
Education & Professional Qualification
- Bachelor’s degree
- 8+ years of consumer-packaged goods and/or retail sales experience
- Minimum of 4+ years of major account sales management experience, Target Experience
- Category Management and Customer/Trade Marketing experience also preferred
- Proven retail analytic application & management capabilities, i.e. syndicated data (Nielsen and/or IRI), customer specific data, and annual customer planning
- Strong Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel & Word) capabilities with advanced proficiency in data manipulation, visualizations, and complex custom reports
- Ability to travel ~15% of the time if it should be deemed necessary for the job
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategically sell Mars Petcare portfolio to customer and maximize sales growth and profit.
- Deliver on all assigned scorecard targets – GSV, NSV, Trade, SAM, Perfect Store, Share, & Customer JBP.
- Foster strong customer relationships to ensure a long-term partnership that promotes mutual sales growth.
- Manage annual Joint Business Plan strategic development, execution, and JBP Financial Tracking (including monthly JBP P&L forecast updates for merchant team).
- Manage quarterly JBP presentations, business results and recommendations to deliver the expected Sales and Margin plan.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to develop/present line reviews that drive successful new product launches, optimal assortment, and best-in-class in store and digital shelving recommendations.
- Oversee all new item set up forms, costing, deductions & negotiations agreements, including maintaining strong position with Target’s Digital Product Content Scorecard.
- Develop and align to internal team objectives, goals, strategies and measures, including key leadership role during annual planning process (National Planning Meeting, Account Review, etc.).
- Own internal Mars sales forecast and work closely with Demand Planning to influence demand forecast. Leverage tools and relationship with customer to drive forecast accuracy and partner with Customer Supply Team to deliver flawless execution.
- Optimize trade budget to best deliver effective and efficient results through management of trade and shopper marketing dollars and positive ROI.
- Improve supply chain effectiveness and efficiencies with the goal of relentlessly driving out waste and costs.
- Collaborate with Shopper Marketing/Roundel to develop campaigns that maximize seasonal/pet parent-focused moments, amplify Mars Brand support and deliver strong results against highlighted objectives
- Actively lead, engage and work with internal functions, peers & colleagues to influence needs of Target Business
- Communicate with internal stakeholders and leadership on plans, share position, volume and expectations for the portfolio.
