Eaton’s Electrical Sector - Canada is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer/Technologist to join our team our EPC (Edmonton Power Centre). This position is based at our Edmonton, AB location and is 100% on site. Position Overview: Reporting to the engineering manager, this position is responsible to: Perform customer order engineering and leads multiple concurrent projects which include new, custom, and customized low and medium voltage power distribution products. Provide timely and accurate drawings, materials information, and production engineering support for the manufacturing of assigned projects in accordance with the customer specifications, industry standards and Eaton standards. Provide product support to Marketing, Sales, EatonCare Customer Service, and Eaton’s Electrical Services & Systems (EESS) teams. In this function you will: Manage customer order projects, with moderate level of guidance and direction. Work is reviewed at critical points. Review incoming orders for scope, application, configuration accuracy and compliance to customer specifications. Prepare accurate electrical/mechanical input engineering documents and instructions for preparation of approval, confirmation, construction, manufacturing, and as-built drawings. Efficiently create own ACAD drawings as required. Create accurate electrical component bills of material to fulfill order requirements. Control all changes through the change management process. Initiate PCNs and RFIs, as required. Collaborate effectively with team members, supply chain, production, suppliers, management, marketing, sales, EatonCare, field service, warranty administrator and customers. Maintain commercial and technical accountability for assigned projects. Conduct interim and final product inspections. Support and participate in the implementation of corporate initiatives and attainment of department and operations goals. Meet safety, quality, schedule, and financial objectives. Identify and participate in cost improvements. Coordinate and facilitate the commercial aspects of orders, including meeting with EatonCare and/or customer to approve/revise drawings and customer inspections Maintain level 4 competency on assigned products and perform second level drawing quality reviews. Lead special project initiatives to support product and process improvements within the department and submit monthly reports to immediate supervisor Serve as the technical expert on specific product and champions standardization on how to incorporate the product utilization in control and wiring schematics When we embrace the different ideas, perspectives and backgrounds that make each of us unique, we — as individuals and as a company — are stronger. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: 2 year diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or 4 year University degree in Electrical Engineering. Registered as a professional member with APEGA (or other Canadian provincial engineering association) OR Certified Engineering Technologist registered with ASET (or other Canadian technologist association) Creates and/or validates mechanical (various views of assemblies, layouts, coordination) drawings. Understands application of protective relaying. Effectively demonstrates applied electrical and mechanical engineering concepts. Strong technical knowledge and experience in a manufacturing environment. 3 to 5 years of engineering experience in the manufacturing of electrical power distribution assemblies and customer relations. Demonstrates advanced use of digital tools to solve problems Working knowledge and experience interpreting applicable industry standards (CSA, IEEE/ANSI, NEMA) for 7.2KV motor control, 0.6KV through 38KV metal-enclosed and metal-clad switchgear and Canadian Electrical Code is preferred. Preferred qualifications: ERP experience in Oracle Manufacturing is preferred Position Criteria: Self-motivated, energetic and capable of working in a very fast pace environment as part of a team and taking direction. Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical and problem solving skills. Strong English communication skills, both verbal and written. French is an asset.
