Reporting directly to the DTP Line Manager or DTP/Technical Services Manager, the position requires a high level of technical skills and knowledge of the Localization process. Possible to lead projects, this position also requires good organisational, man-management and communication skills.

Projects

·   Typesetting/formatting and QA of foreign language publications such as manuals, marketing and training materials, including:

-    Electronic book building, constructing Indices, ToC’s, Xrefs, and Variables

-    Localising and linking graphic content

-    Production of review and final deliverables, e.g. PDF

·   Technical support of team

·   Organisation of allocated projects including:

-    Milestone adherence

-    Early escalation where quality or project milestones may be jeopardised

-    Implementation and adherence to SDL/ISO quality procedures

-    Research and training where required

-    Documentation of important project related information and distribution to the rest of the project team as appropriate

·   Accurately record daily working time through use of Timesheet program

·   2+ years working in a production environment using the following  applications:

-    Adobe FrameMaker (standard or structured)

-    Adobe InDesign (standard or structured)

-    Adobe Acrobat

-    Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Visio

·   Additional knowledge of any of the following DTP/graphics applications an advantage:

-    QuarkXpress

-    Adobe PageMaker, Illustrator or Photoshop

-    Corel Ventura Publisher

-    Broadvision InterLeaf/QuickSilver

-    Corel Draw

-    Arbortext Editor or JustSystems XMetaL (or other XML/DITA/SGML/HTML authoring/publishing)

-    Quadralay Webworks/ePublisher

-    Adobe RoboHelp

·   Excellent knowledge of Windows & Macintosh OS’s

·   Thorough understanding of the localisation production process and factors that impact on efficiency and quality, including:

-    Concepts of Translation Memory management and hardware, especially using SDL technology

-    Issues related to Double-Byte, Bi-Directional and Indic language localisation and publishing

-    Repro/print process

·   Good understanding of the factors that influence project profitability

·   Excellent verbal and written communication skill

·   Motivated self-starter, who can work on own initiative as well as part of a team

·   Analytical, methodical, quality oriented, deadline driven with excellent problem solving skills
