Job Description

The focus of the foundational experience team is on the delivery and growth of innovative, modern user experiences that help our customers achieve more on their Windows-powered devices.

 

The Data Science team in M365 FX is a small team of dedicated data scientists working across Windows teams with the ultimate goal of using advanced analytics to inform decision making, drive product performance and maximize business impact through the power of ML/AI.

 

We are looking for an experienced technical leader with a strong general knowledge of ML (including deep learning) and can help us power and foster a data-driven insight culture. Someone self-motivated and curious by nature, and a candidate that can take a Data Science project and efficiently work through the whole E2E lifecycle to produce complete and sound analysis.

  • Contribute to research, identification, prototyping, and productizing of ML/AI techniques and algorithms that result in specific action plans
  • Collaborate with DAS (Data & Applied Science) in charge of Data Analytics for their features on a broad gamut of dimensions (education, guidance, initial analytics product design, data, statistics, etc.)
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and Development Engineers to use ML/AI driven tools and models
  • Understand the business/user problems. Identifies and prioritizes business opportunities and communicates insights and compelling data-driven stories.  
  • Mentor and grow talented junior data scientists on the team

  • Master or Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline (Machine Learning, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistics, Applied Mathematics)
  • 5+ years of experience with statistical, ML or data mining algorithms for real-world problems 
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with advanced ML techniques for classification, regression, recommendations, or pattern recognition
  • 3+ years of experience of working through a full product cycle
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or R
  • Course work and prior experience in data and/or text analytics, with focus on predictive models, neural networks and other AI techniques
  • Ability to understand complex systems and apply statistics and ML/AI around them
  • Familiarity with large scale data processing systems (ex. Azure Databricks, Hadoop or Spark)
  • A sense of personal ownership is required, together with the ability to deliver to deadlines while managing internal stakeholder expectations
  • Communicates well with technical and non-technical audiences
