(Senior) Data Engineer (m/f/x) - IoT & Industry 4.0 venture

This digital business unit in close partnership with BCG Digital Ventures is currently working on building the leading end to end IoT platform for machine efficiency and equipment effectiveness. This platform will not just completely reshape how companies produce and elevate their efficiency levels, but at the same time fundamentally augment the way how manufacturing employees do their job.

As they envision strong growth, they are looking for a “(Senior) Data Engineer (m/f/x)“ to join the ambitious team in Berlin and shape their state-of-the-art solution.

Key Responsibilities

• Shaping the data-heavy, revolutionary IoT platform from early on, making it scalable, resilient and smart
• Working on data mining, ETL, data pipeline automation, data workflow orchestration, system integration
• Designing, implementing, monitoring and operating data processing and pipelines
• Developing a good understanding of the customers’ systems and data sources (area: production & manufacturing) to make integration/implementation with company platform as smooth and scalable as possible
• Co-create with Data Scientists impactful ML models and deploy them into production
• Close cross-functional collaboration with Data Scientists, Backend Engineers, and the Product team to build an outstanding product
• Solving challenging problems with the use of Data and ML in: IoT, industrial automation, digital production, smart manufacturing and industry 4.0

Key Requirements

• Several years of backend-centered software engineering experience paired with a focus on data and a genuine interest in data science or direct work experience as data engineer/architect
• Solid experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS and/or Azure)
• Programming skills in one or more of these languages: Python, JavaScript (Backend), Java
• Very good understanding of data processing, data pipelining & automation, data workflow orchestration, ETL, data mining
• Experience in data-driven architectures, e.g. streaming, service-based, microservices, API, CQRS, etc.  
• Good communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional and interdisciplinary teams in a dynamic & fast-paced environment
• Very good English skills, German or additional European language knowledge is a plus
• Interest in ML, IoT, industrial automation, digital production, smart manufacturing and industry 4.0
