Job Description

The purpose of the GBS Data Assurance team is to ensure that master, reference and transactional data created and used within AZ Finance systems is fit for purpose. The Senior Data Quality Assurance Analyst role is responsible for identifying, investigating and resolving data issues affecting planning, reporting and other Finance processes.

Typical Accountabilities

  • Investigate, analyse and determine resolution for reported and discovered data issues
  • Perform data quality profiling
  • Produce ad hoc data quality reports
  • Use existing data quality reports in conjunction with direct analysis to perform regular monitoring of data quality
  • Proactively perform data analysis to identify flaws, and propose additions to data standards, controls and data quality reports
  • Provide support to projects and initiatives making strategic data changes
  • Support process improvement analysts to identify causes of data issues
  • Contribute to improvements in standards, processes, controls and documentation
  • Contribute to the development of the data assurance playbook
  • Work with advanced analytics teams to develop new ways to proactively monitor data quality

Education, Qualifications, Skills and Experience required for the role:

Essential:

  • Experience of working with financial data and systems, preferably SAP FICO
  • Background in data analysis and issue investigation in a complex data and system environment
  • Experience in the maintenance and use of common financial data (e.g. costs centres, profit centres, chart of accounts)
  • Good understanding of financial reporting and/or planning
  • Experience in querying data using SQL
  • Good understanding of data quality and data management principles
  • Proficient in Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Proactive, analytical and investigative mindset
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good written and verbal communication skills

Desirable:

  • Accounting background
  • Experience of working in a complex global organisation
  • Pharmaceutical business awareness/business domain knowledge
  • Experience using data quality profiling and monitoring tools
  • Experience in the use of manufacturing data within finance (e.g. product costing)
