Eaton Mission Systems is seeking a Sr. Design Engineer. This position at our growing Orchard Park, NY facility. Position Overview: The Sr. Design Engineer will facilitate the design of new and legacy products for applications in the Space and Defense industry. In this function you will: Independently determining and developing approaches on designs of diverse scope and complexity focusing on analysis and evaluation of multiple factors. Design and development of new products in an R&D environment, bid and proposal support, and production support for timely resolution of technical issues. Perform as a key contributor in a design and development team environment with supervision by a technical lead or Engineering Manager. Participation in company-wide engineering initiatives and activities, as well as provide technical input to non-engineering support staff. Assist in mentoring of junior engineers and interns. Perform other advanced engineering tasks as assigned by supervisor. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which may be subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated track record of successfully applying several of the following Engineering Principles: Statics, Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Heat Transfer, Control Systems, Pneumatics, Hydraulics, Vibration & Shock, and applicable analyses (FEA, CFD, etc.) Proficiency with SolidWorks,3D CAD, and Creo Experience in supporting business development with timely proposal analysis Knowledge of technical regulations, military or industrial standards, relevant educational experience in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering Ability to work effectively within a cross functional team Possess good oral and written communication skills as well as being comfortable in making presentations Have sound problem resolution, judgment and decision-making skills Space Industry experience, which may include but not limited to life support, oxygen, high and low pressure gasses, fluid control, valves, regulators, actuation, propulsion, and similar systems Experience with new product development, introduction and transition to production Exposure to Product Lifecycle Design Review, and Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP) systems Support the production floor during build, integration, and test phases of the product lifecycle Exposure to a wide variety of manufacturing processes for both one off prototype processes and production which includes: machining, welding, structural assembly & testing We are committed to ensuring equal employment opportunities for all job applicants and employees.
