Eaton’s Industrial Aerospace Sector, Fluid Electrical Division is currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Bethel, CT facility. Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary range for this role is $72,375 to $106,150. This role will start no earlier than January 3, 2023. Position Overview: The Senior Design Engineer provides engineering solutions for pressure transducer and pressure switch products that comply with customer requirements and has technical ownership of specific product lines. The role is also responsible for sustaining engineering of existing production products, including support of cost out opportunities, perform design and development tasks for aerospace applications from initial product design concept through delivery of qualified hardware. The Senior Design Engineer is an individual contributor who possesses a broad knowledge of principles and practices of mechanical systems. In this function you will: Provide engineering solutions that meet customer performance, weight, cost, and schedule requirements. Work closely with customers to define explicit non-ambiguous end-use requirements. Provide technical direction for assigned projects from initial concept phase to product delivery. Responsible for concept layout, modeling, detailing, release and change management of drawings in configuration control system. Ensure compliance to quality system requirements. Take on technical ownership of specific product line; take initiative to pursue alternative design approaches and technologies that will improve overall product performance. Proactively learns processes and technologies to support design efforts. Establish technical requirements for fabricated and procured components. Select materials, finishes, processes, and dimensions required to meet design intent. Work closely with manufacturing engineers, designers, and suppliers to create and release detail and assembly drawings to achieve customer requirements. Visits suppliers and customers as required. Perform vibration, thermal, fluid dynamic, and tolerance analyses to verify compliance. Use FEA and manual approaches as required. Perform both mechanical and electrical design tasks associated with electromechanical sensors. Provide hands-on support to manufacturing during machining, assembly, and test of prototype and production hardware. Host design reviews with customers on-site and offsite. Demonstrate ability to clearly explain and discuss drawings, engineering analyses, and manufacturing processes. Review customer specifications and drawings. Responsible for design verification and validation testing to determine design compliance. Support product improvement and cost reduction initiatives by evaluating engineering change requests. Support sales and marketing in generation of proposals and responses to customer inquiries. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution. Minimum of three (3) years of mechanical design / project engineering experience. Must be eligible to work in the United States without company sponsorship. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 60-mile radius of (enter location) will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. Electromechanical, electrical circuit design. MEMS sensor design. Pressure sensing and/or aerospace industry experience. Position Criteria: Must possess strong communication skills, communicating with customers, engineers, manufacturing personnel, peers, and suppliers in a dynamic team environment. Demonstrated experience in mechanical design, stress analysis, thermal analysis, materials and processes, requirements management, corrective action, structural & thermal analysis, DFSS Understands failure modes associated with mechanical systems and is familiar with available market technologies. Understands and manages all technical aspects for assigned projects. Understands mechanical, electric-mechanical systems and robust design methods. Knowledgeable in simple electrical circuit design, component selection, and circuit analysis. Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing and Design for Six Sigma principles.
