Eaton's Aerospace Sector, Fluid Electrical Distribution Division is currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join our team. This position is based in our Rumford, RI facility. Eaton provides a competitive total rewards package commensurate with applicable skills, knowledge, and experience and consistent with internal and external market practices. The annual salary range for this role is $72,375 to $106,150. Position Overview: As a member of the Product Design Group, the Senior Design Engineer is a technical resource for new product development projects for aircraft systems, engines and other aerospace and industrial accumulator and seals applications. The Senior Design Engineer performs project engineering work from preliminary specification to implementation, managing multiple phases of product design, analysis, development and test to final customer approval; communicates expectations, plans, and requirements and also coordinates all work within the scope of assigned projects. This role serves as a consultant, providing technical information and engineering recommendations that assist various projects and processes. The Senior Design Engineer contributes effectively towards team goals, influences the work group and works beyond routine nature of tasks utilizing specialized knowledge to support internal and external customers. In this function you will: Develop new or improved ways of product solutions to meet deadlines, cost targets, and customer requirements during design and development cycles. Create engineering designs based on customer input and works with other functions (e.g., product management, manufacturing, quality, tooling, etc.) to insure continuous flow during product development cycle. Perform preliminary structural, thermal, dynamic, and performance analysis for design validation. Review existing product documentation to find issues and determine resolutions and execute design change requests (DCR’s) IAW ISO standards when required while maintaining conformity to customer requirements. Communicate effectively with internal and external customers. This includes quick response to technical questions from the internal and external customers using experienced engineering judgment and/or simple analysis methods. Support Product Management in assessing risk and business opportunity for new product applications. Qualifications Basic (Required) Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering. Minimum of three (3) of mechanical design experience Knowledgeable in applying GD&T in accordance with ANSI Y 14.5 and dimensional stack-ups. Demonstrated understanding of manufacturing process including turning, milling, grinding, lapping, and all other processes associated with manufacturing mechanical seals. National and international travel up to 10%. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Rumford, RI will be considered. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Minimum of three (3) of aerospace design experience. Aircraft Engine mechanical systems design experience. Bilingual in English and French. Proficient knowledge in fluid mechanics. Ability to interpret technical and regulatory specifications and convert requirements to qualifying actions including analysis, similarity, and testing.
