Eaton’s Aerospace Group is currently seeking a Senior Design Engineer - Solenoid to join our team. This position is based out of our Glenolden, PA facility. Eaton’s Glenolden, PA facility is located just 15 miles southwest of Philadelphia and has approximately 145 employees (and growing). This World Class Manufacturing facility is a leader in the design, development, manufacture and delivery of electronic debris monitoring devices for the military and commercial aerospace industry. Position Overview: The primary function of the Senior Design Engineer for Solenoid (hydraulic/pneumatic) is design support work for pressure transducer, pressure switch and sensing product lines for various aerospace applications that comply with customer performance requirements. The Senior Design Engineer will provide technical ownership of a specific product line or focus area by providing sustaining product support, pursuing alternative design approaches and processes when needed, while taking market trends and best practices into account. Responsibilities include requirements management, design verification, reliability and failure mode analysis, and investigation. Product design will be evaluated with layouts, modeling, drawing creation using CAD (CATIA, Pro-E, AutoCAD) and the product release configuration control (Enovia). The role will support design in machining, casting, assembly, dimensional tolerance, marking, and GD&T per industrial standards. Manufacturing sustaining support for the solenoid valve product line will include reviewing manufacturing processes, evaluating customer returns, resolving supply chain issues, and troubleshooting manufacturing and/or aftermarket concerns. In this function you will: Provide engineering solutions that meet customer performance requirements, interface details, reliability, cost and schedule requirements. Work with customers to define explicit non-ambiguous requirements and provide technical direction for assigned projects from initial concept phase to product delivery. Understand mechanical, electric-mechanical systems and robust design methods. Responsible for concept layout, modeling, detailing, release and change management of drawings in configuration control system. Ensure compliance to quality system requirement. Establish technical requirements for fabricated and procured components. Select materials, finishes, processes, dimensions and GD&T to meet design intent. Work closely with manufacturing and quality engineers, customers, and suppliers including supplier and customer visits as required. Work with SWEC teams to perform structural static and dynamic analyses, thermal and fluid dynamics analyses, and other engineering analysis methods to verify compliance; use FEA and manual approaches as required. Perform both mechanical and electrical design tasks associated with electromechanical sensors. Knowledgeable in simple electrical circuit design requirements and packaging. Provide hands-on support to manufacturing during machining, assembly, and test of prototype and production hardware. Evaluate Lean Manufacturing methods and Design for Six Sigma principles as needed. Host on and off-site design reviews with customers; demonstrate ability to clearly explain and discuss drawings, engineering analyses, and manufacturing processes. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution required. Minimum three (3) years of electro-mechanical design, solenoid, or project engineering experience. Demonstrated experience in mechanical design, stress analysis, magnetic properties, seal design, fluid analysis, thermal analysis, materials and processes, requirements management, and DFSS. Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship. No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the Glenolden, PA facility will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.
