Analog Devices is seeking a Digital Design Engineer for its Power over Ethernet (PoE) group in beachside Santa Barbara, CA. The PoE group designs analog and mixed-signal SoCs with significant digital content. This is a demanding multi-disciplinary position with unique growth potential, where the candidate would primarily lead the digital portion of the products. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Top-level digital architecture including contributions to design specification, process/IP selection, and design partitioning (e.g., microarchitecture specification)
  • Verilog-based digital ASIC design, verification, synthesis, simulation, and static timing analysis
  • Design for test, including test insertion (e.g. scan, JTAG, MBIST) and test pattern generation
  • Silicon verification, test plan development, and bench evaluation of silicon
  • Collaboration with Applications Engineers to adapt and integrate designs into customer solutions

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS/BS Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering
  • 7+ years experience in ASIC design
  • High proficiency with digital design, embedded systems, and scripting languages (e.g., Verilog, C, Python)
  • High proficiency with RTL-to-GDS flow (e.g. Genus, Conformal, Innovus, Tempus, Modus)
  • Working comprehension of the operation and measurement of analog circuits
  • Ability to identify and overcome technical hurdles independently
  • Good organization; written and verbal communication skills


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Distinguishing work in the field of digital design (e.g. personal projects, competitions, published papers)
  • Experience in creating functional models in SystemVerilog, Verilog-A, or Verilog-AMS and analysis of system-level tradeoffs
  • Proficient with standard interfaces and bus protocols (e.g., AMBA, Wishbone; I2C, SPI)
  • Experience developing FPGA-based solutions for pre-silicon and post-silicon validation
  • Embedded firmware development and debug
  • Experience debugging and testing circuits; making electrical measurements in a laboratory environment
  • Experience in a broad range of product development support roles
