YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead and support teams to identify, evaluate and implement innovative digital solutions to create values for R&D

• Develop and implement a strategy to establish solid networks with a digital health community in Japan including startups to monitor and identify advanced digital technologies that potentially can be incorporated into R&D

• Directly report to Head of Open Innovation Center Japan and supervise Digital Innovation manager(s)

• Facilitate the R&D Japan (RDJ) digital committee to ensure transparency of all digital projects, synergies and the resource optimization across functions in RDJ

• Contribute to developing a digital strategy and the roadmap for RDJ, and developing digital capabilities including individual knowledge and skills in RDJ

• Represent Bayer in digital innovation activities and interface with relevant internal functions (e.g. Digital Transformation, global and local R&D functions) as well as external digital innovation communities (e.g. academia, start-ups, consulting firm)

• Support OIDT’s activities in Japan

• Actively contribute to developing Bayer’s global R&D digital strategy in close collaboration with OIDT and implementing it in Japan

• Represent Bayer in digital initiatives and taking roles and responsibilities in relevant digital communities

WHO YOU ARE

• Degree as PhD in natural science, computer science or mathematics is preferred

• 5+ years in experience in R&D in pharmaceutical industries

• Candidate with experience in Bioinformatics/ system biology if preferred

• Experience introducing new and innovative digital technologies to improve business efficiency, extend customer experiences or enable new business model across functions for pharmaceutical industry including research & development

• Experience working with big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning (e.g. predictive analysis, forecasting, natural language processing, etc.)

• Familiarity with digital health including mobile apps, wearable devices, sensors and digital therapeutics

• Ability to facilitate teams using innovation methods including design thinking, design sprint, systemic inventive theory and lean startup etc.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills including experience in presentation to audiences inside and outside company in both Japanese and English

• Excellent organizational, negotiating and influencing skills

• Experience in leading cross-functional team as well as in project management

• International and intercultural experience, good relationship management, credibility and integrity
