Within Electrophysiology and Heart Failure organizations, we are recruiting a newly created Senior Director, Medical Affairs position which oversees and manages medical affairs projects related to Ensite X launch across EMEA region, oversees Medical Affairs projects related to grants, ISS studies in Asia, Australia and Pacific regions, and has a global R&D partnership on design development related to Ensite X and future catheter design definitions. The role specifically includes EMEA KOL guidance on implementation of Ensite X as our most important future building product into clinical workflows. The role reports into the CMO EP.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide KOL guidance on implementation of Ensite X across EMEA.
  • Provide Global R&D Support on Ensite X design development and future catheter design definitions.
  • Implement Abbott's vision for on-market Product Performance, Medical Education and Training, and Medical Information for APAC.
  • Oversee the medical information and professional education and grant functions in medical affairs, supervising employees involved in those functions for APAC.
  • Oversee grants to physician investigators, healthcare institutions, professional societies, conferences and other strategic initiatives for APAC.
  • Monitor and report on progress of investigator sponsored studies in APAC supported by Abbott Grants.
  • Provide direction in establishing and implementing required product safety processes and procedures for new products and technologies as clinical studies are implemented, APAC regulatory approvals are obtained, and new products are commercialized.
  • Review and evaluate product performance data and trends to provide early identification of issues related to product performance or usage concerns in order to minimize clinical safety risk. This includes designing changes to product performance assessment and management to improve ongoing monitoring and risk assessment.
  • Make appropriate product and procedural recommendations and work closely with doctor/patient on issues related to clinical study activities and the safety of devices in heart failure and electrophysiology.
  • Work cross functionally with Compliance, Research & Development, Clinical Science, Regulatory Affairs, and Commercial organizations as required.

Your Profile:

  • Advanced degree preferred (PhD and MD), with a strong background in clinical medicine, cardiology and EP. Deep knowledge and experience with  catheterization laboratory Technology; and a minimum of 10+ years work experience or equivalent combination.
  • Knowledge of cardiac devices is essential, and a background in safety or product performance is a plus.
  • Skills in cardiovascular science and thorough understanding of scientific methods as they apply to the evaluation of product performance for on-market products and new products in clinical studies.
  • Business experience preferred within the Asia, Australia and Pacific medical products market.
  • Experience in leading teams and peer leadership interaction.
  • Excellent written and communication skills.
  • Exceptional technical skills and knowledge.
  • Polished presentation skills and a well-recognized list of peer-reviewed publications are important as this position may be asked to represent the company to physicians and healthcare forums.
  • Fluent in German, English and ideally in Mandarin
