The Sr. Director, Product Management is part of the qPCR business within our Genetic Sciences Division (GSD). Based in South San Francisco, GSD is at the forefront of innovation for genetic analysis research and clinical applications. The qPCR Business Unit is a key platform within the division. We are committed to delivering unparalleled support and continued innovation to meet needs today and tomorrow.
POSITION SUMMARY
As the qPCR Sr. Director, you will operate as a General Manager for the portfolio by collaborating with all business functions to ensure the products meet and exceed our customers’ expectations. You will lead the qPCR instrument team and key responsibilities will include product strategy, product definition, new product introductions, training, support, and life cycle management.
The position will be site based, located preferably at our facility in South San Francisco, CA or in Carlsbad, CA. Travel is expected to average 50%, including international.

Key Responsibilities:
- As a Strategic Leader
- Develops and executes upon a global technology and product road map for the life cycle of current and new products for all addressable markets (Verticals).
- Collaboration (Leveraging Scale)
- Works across key customers/KOLs and orchestrates our *matrixed organization to deliver solutions that meet their needs. Leverages the divisions scale which includes programs like Data Science and the Platform for Science for sustained growth.
- Growth Driver (Commercial Acumen):
- Works closely with the commercial team to defend, migrate and grow high margin, high market share business. Key to success will be consistent performance in the core, life sciences market, and increased participation in the health care market.
- Commercial experience and Acumen – Experience selling capital equipment and consumables through a variety of channels
- Execution Skills
- Accountable leader with experience leading teams through obstacles and getting optimal return from market opportunities. Track record of delivering results in product management
- People Leadership/Change Management
- Builds a great team and great culture. Attracts, engages, develops, and retains top talent at all levels. Inspires, influences, and empowers employees across the matrix (both direct and indirect teams globally) to overachieve objectives. Decisive leader with ability to lead and empower teams
- Bachelor’s degree required preferably in sciences, businesses, economics or other related field.
- MBA or related advanced degree, desired.
- Leadership experience leading, developing and building successful global strategic teams.
- Demonstrated success working in a global matrixed environment.
- Strong customer/quality orientation with demonstrated ability to effectively build and manage customer and partner relationships.
- Proven track record of effectively driving organizational transformation through large scale change initiatives from a business and cultural standpoint
- Strong business acumen with demonstrated ability to understand, analyze and assimilate complex issues, draw correct conclusions, prioritize and formulate clear strategy and initiatives
- Ability to attract, recruit, develop and retain hi-potential talent
- Demonstrates passion and enthusiasm for an organization’s vision, and motivates, leads, and empowers others to achieve organizational goals
