Position Summary:
Thermo Fisher Asia Pacific is growing rapidly both organically and through acquisition. Today we have over 12,000 colleagues based in APAC with significant anticipated growth. We are searching for a strategic Total Rewards leader to partner with regional business and HR leaders and Corporate Total Rewards leaders to proactively and pragmatically design compensation and benefits solutions for the region, and develop associated governance processes and administration / engagement tools. As a key member of the global Total Rewards team, this role will also support global projects and processes and ensure local APAC requirements and preferences are addressed within those enterprise-wide programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design of the company’s Total Rewards programs in the assigned countries, in line with the corporate global principles and structures, including base pay management, short term incentives and benefit plans. Evaluate competitive practices and make recommendations to ensure that these plans are cost competitive and support the company’s mission, values, and achievement of business objectives.
- Assist with Merger and Acquisition activity impacting the region, including the Total Rewards integration of newly acquired companies, or assistance with Due Diligence reviews of potential targets. Equally, lead harmonization efforts across the region for existing businesses, to develop universal programs for each country.
- Partner with HR colleagues across the region to ensure employee understanding of salary administration, incentives, benefits and equity programs and performance management through training programs and regular communications. Develop specific communication and change management plans, when supporting change initiatives.
- Manage consulting relationships with external brokers, actuaries, tax advisors etc. within the framework of global consulting agreements.
- Identify key risks and opportunities impacting APAC Total Rewards plans, whether from legislation change, market trend developments or financial risks.
- Support global functional teams within Total Rewards such as Global Mobility and Retirement to develop and localize policies and also to implement local changes.
- Manage the compensation infrastructure across the APAC region including the ongoing review of salary structures attached to the company’s job architecture.
- Lead corporate Rewards cyclical processes for the region, including the annual focal point merit, bonus and LTI review.
- Identify opportunities to enhance the colleague value proposition, including plan communications and utilization of technology within selected countries to improve choice and enhance administration effectiveness.
- Support wider projects within the HR function, particularly in the area of process and system improvements.
- Facilitate executive movement across the Regions partnering with Talent COE to ensure effective use of mobility and executive compensation policies.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- 10+ years’ experience in Total Rewards management with multi-national corporations, including a minimum of 2+ years living and leading Total Rewards organizations based in Asia.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to link compensation and benefits priorities to key business initiatives and ensure focus and spend is targeted towards initiatives with highest return on investment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in the design and delivery of base pay, incentive, benefits and equity programs is required. Ability to effectively present options and recommendations to leadership is necessary. In-depth knowledge of compensation theory and practice and knowledge of APAC benefits and compensation laws and regulations required.
- High levels of analytical skills required, together with goal accomplishment orientation. Must be results driven, highly energetic, service oriented team player who can function effectively and independently in a fast paced dynamic environment.
