Position Summary:
As a member of the Instrument Enterprise Services team, provides strategic EHS oversight with respect to, regulatory compliance, training, and customer requirements with respect to each country’s specific health, safety and environmental regulations by performing the following duties outlined below.
Job Duties:
- Strategically plan, implement and coordinate risk programs to reduce or eliminate occupational illness and injuries.
- Review incident reports and investigate to root cause, in order to develop solutions to minimize or prevent recurrence.
- Represent IES in dealings the Health and Safety Executive and Environment Agency and other relevant safety and environmental bodies.
- Manage the online subscription services that collect EH&S data, insurance certificates, safety and training program data. Provide timely response to quality managers, contracts staff, and customer service representatives requests for EH&S data, and complete documentation in advance of Field Service activities
- Provides hazardous services for customers
i.e. chemical handling and distribution
- Provides EHS statistics
i.e. bid proposals, contracts, surveys, metrics and tracking
- Develops and works with customers on developing EHS training obligations
i.e. EHS training to IES employees
- Interpret and communicate to Sr EHS Manager, various regulations and procedures that may or will impact IES employees.
- Perform Risk Assessments at customer sites and track recommendations until all are completed.
- Coordinate Industrial Hygiene Monitoring and Ergonomic Assessments for ULS.
- Ensure that IES is following hazardous waste disposal and that all clean-up programs are using corporate approved vendors.
- Direct implementation of strategies to effectively resolve Health and Safety issues within IES.
- Participate in professional educational programs to maintain skill levels and certifications.
- Serve as the liaison and foster collaboration between TMO factories and IES on EHS activities.
Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of EHS as it relates to service organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and implement requirements of safety and environmental regulatory agencies.
- Familiarity with exposure levels to chemical and physical agents.
- Familiarity with chemical incompatibilities.
- Broad operational EHS experience in a large service based company environment with global operations.
- Strong skills in the delivery and deployment of EHS services to diverse and dispersed user groups located at multiple sites.
- Experience in a continuous improvement environment with a track record of achieving significant development year over year.
- Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental or related field from four-year College or university
and two to five years related experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of radiation and Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) designation.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity and the corresponding capacity to make decisions or recommendations based on potentially incomplete information.
- Strong negotiating and influencing skills both internally and with third party providers.
- Strong project management skills and understanding of project management lifecycle.
- Ability to work in a highly matrixed environment.
- Ability to successfully lead projects to completion on time and within budget.
- Ability to make final decisions on administrative or operational matters.
- Ability to quickly understand the business and EHS’s impact on its success.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strong skills in relationship building and constituent management – the ability to bring compromise to situations between multiple constituents with different viewpoints/ motivations.
- Strong computer/software skills (Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio, etc.)
- Up to 30% travel may be required (based on remote locations)
Physical/Environmental Requirements
Physical activities: Handling various training media. Chemical handling and personal protective equipment worn when required. Exposure to hazardous chemicals or emergency situations as needed. Equipment/Tools: Personal computers, telephone, fax machine, mechanical equipment, variety of facilities equipment.
Interaction with customers (internal/external)
- Interact with vendors.
- Interact with representatives from all areas of the business and manage inter-disciplinary projects.
- Interact with site-level staff, providing project updates and input regarding future potential projects as necessary.
- Communication skills must be sufficient to potentially negotiate problem resolution internally throughout the division and externally with customers.
