Eaton's Electrical Sector, Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure (CPDI) division is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. The preferred location is Raleigh, NC, but remote work from another Eaton facility will be considered. Eaton's Critical Power & Digital Infrastructure Division in Raleigh, NC is looking for a for a Senior Electrical Engineer to support our product development and design of Electrical Vehicle Charging products. This position is responsible for developing and designing products from initial customer proposal through production launch for the EVCI market. In this function you will: Design and develop DC fast charging commercial power charging stations and systems for EV vehicles. Analyze and simulate (Hardware in the Loop) power electronics systems including, analog, logical, and digital electronics. Collaborate on new product development projects while meeting schedule, cost and product performance goals. Interface closely with cross-functional team members globally. Review product development requirement specifications including product management and customer requirements. Write and maintain functional specifications of design solutions. Evaluates alternative design solutions to meet product development requirements factoring in performance, features, cost, and schedule. Product testing and Validation with required regulatory certification. Applies Design for Six Sigma principles as part of the development process. Maintains and releases design documentation in a PDM system during product development. Supports factory introduction and field deployment of new products. Qualifications Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 5 years work experience in electrical and electronic circuit design OR Masters degreen in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of 2 years work experience in electrical and electronic circuit design Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with new product development efforts preferred. • Training on Design for Six Sigma concepts preferred. • Experience with Safety and Regulatory Position Criteria: Experience applying digital control and algorithms to power electronics and charging subsystems. Experience developing advanced digital controls and algorithms for AC to DC power conversion preferred. Understanding of RFID Transaction process is preferred. Understanding of Magnetics design for high frequency Power Electronics. Ability to simulate, analyze, troubleshoot using HIL systems Competent with Matlab/PLECS and PSPICE Familiarity with schematic entry and PCB design tools like Altium, Cadence, etc. Understanding of layout design principles. Will work in lab environment around high voltage where safety awareness is critical. Attention to detail Excellent verbal/ written communications. Position requires an individual who is self-motivated, self-managed, team-oriented, proactive, attentive to detail, task oriented, and able to overcome obstacles to meet schedule requirements. Familiarity with common tools and methods to work in high power lab (480V) environment, oscilloscope, power analyzers and meters.
