This role is in our Raleigh, NC location and will be part time with the potential to transition to full time in the future. This position is hybrid as long as you live within 50 miles of our location. Position Overview: The Senior Electrical Engineer is part of the Advanced Technology Development Team. This position is responsible for the design and development of 3-Phase Power Conversion and Distribution Products as part of the Advanced Technology development initiatives. This position also provides opportunities to have hands-on experience in new product development for Uninterruptible Power Supplies, Energy Storage products and associated accessories. Essential Functions: Design, develop and test power electronic converters and electrical systems for power conversion products Evaluate alternative design solutions to meet customer and product development requirements while factoring in cost, performance, and schedule needs; Create and maintain functional specifications aligned with customer and product management requirements; Create work breakdown schedules, test plans, and sets milestone priorities for cross functional development team; Simulate power electronics, analog, logical, and digital circuits, including transient analysis and state machine change analysis. Review test reports and provide feedback and guidance to technicians Drive technical excellence and rigor through simulations, hardware-in-loop systems and Design for Six Sigma concepts. Collaborate with electrical lead in product development projects and be accountable for meeting cost, product performance, and schedule goals for areas of responsibility. Interface with vendors on component technical issues, including data sheet clarification, component performance, and design solutions. Assist product, program, and engineering managers in the development of cost targets, product specifications, and program schedules to align with business goals. Qualifications - Internal Required (Basic) Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum 3 years of work experience in power electronics product development OR Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of 1 years of related industry work experience in power electronics product development No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates within a 50-mile radius of Raleigh, NC will be considered. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering 2 years of experience leading design projects 2 years of MatLab, Simulink experience 2 years of experience in analyzing, troubleshooting, and programming microcontrollers 2 years of experience in power electronic and power converter topologies 2 years of experience developing schematics and reviewing and approving board layouts 2 years of experience troubleshooting new design issues to root cause 2 years of experience in using common tools and methods to work in high power lab environment including: oscilloscope, power analyzers and meters Position Criteria: Experience developing complex electrical and power electronics systems with digital controls Good understanding of the control of power electronics and/or motor drives Ability to evaluate and design higher level system architectural considerations involving electrical, software, and mechanical cross-disciplinary principles.
