Windows Devices Group’s Manufacturing Test Engineering Team at Microsoft is seeking a passionate, driven, and intellectually curious Senior Electrical Engineer to drive impact and deliver results in the world of Manufacturing Test Engineering at Microsoft. The Manufacturing Test Engineering (MTE) Group is a core member in the Manufacturing and Strategic Sourcing (M&S) Organization, which is part of the Experience and Devices (E+D) Group at Microsoft. The MTE Group is responsible for developing testers for testing of all Microsoft Branded hardware devices in manufacturing. We develop partnerships with our internal development teams and third party external suppliers to deliver high-quality test solutions that delight our customers and deliver a fantastic Windows experience.
Responsibilities
Our Senior Electrical Engineer is responsible for defining, implementing and maintaining world class test and measurement stations used to bring Microsoft’s iconic Windows Devices to the Customer. MTE Engineers use their deep industry and market knowledge while partnering with R&D teams to define and create test solution for all Microsoft Branded Products. You must be a high energy, high impact individual with demonstrated ability to succeed in a dynamic business environment. Successful candidates will build long lasting, strategic partnerships with our Partners and position Microsoft for sustained success.
The candidate will develop and design manufacturing test solutions to ensure the quality performance and functional requirements of all subsystems in MS products.
Qualifications
NECESSARY EXPERIENCES:
• A minimum of 10 years industry experience with 3+ years of experience in designing and developing system level test stations.
• Experience with all phases of test station development including design, prototype, validation and deployment.
• Demonstrated experience in designing electrical interfaces to test high speed digital and analog signals.
• Hand-on experience in schematic design using Cadence tools.
• Hand-on experience troubleshooting failure modes of production test systems.
• Proficiency with Statistical analysis methods. Ability to interpret measurement data produced by Gauge R&R validation exercises.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
• A BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree. Master in EE preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to perform in a fast-paced product development environment.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail.
• Curious and growth mindset.
• Exceptional Teamwork with internal and external partners.
• Ability to setup lab instruments and software.
• Experience delivering test solutions for high-volume production of consumer products.
• Willing to travel internationally up to 25%.
DESIRED SKILLS:
• Familiar with equipment safety and ergonomics related industry standards.
• Familiar with RF technologies like 802.11, Bluetooth, LTE
• SPC and six sigma methodologies. Knowledge of statistical analysis tools, such as JMP or Minitab.
• Programming in C#/C++, Python, LabView or Matlab.
