Our Fire Systems department develops fire safety products, from fire detectors to control panels and up to the cloud services. We work in dedicated teams and pursue each task with passion and conviction. Each year, we produce millions of high-quality fire detectors in our modern factory in Zug as well as abroad. Our networked fire safety products can be connected to smart buildings and cloud services to protect what is important to you. Our team is the global competence center for fieldbus connecting peripherals, e.g., fire detectors with control panels. We develop the hardware components and software platform upon which a broad range of fire peripherals products are built. Your new responsibilities All phases of electronics development from requirements engineering, feasibility studies, writing technical specifications, crafting schematics and layouts and verification, to bringing the product to manufacturing You personally contribute to the development of hardware and firmware of fire safety peripherals. Through your broad technical understanding, you improve products with new features, and optimise reliability, maintainability, and product cost Close collaboration with procurement, testing technology and testing teams as well as with external certification bodies You are a member of an Agile Release Train. This includes ensuring effective communication in the release team and beyond Taking responsibility for achieving the project goals You support the resolution of demanding field problems. Based on this experience, you develop suggestions for improving our product families Your skills A master’s or bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field At least 6 years of experience in several relevant technical fields (hardware, software, mechanics, product design, industrialisation) Hands-on experience in PCB design (schematics design, component selection, simulation, and layout) Experience with several of the following: embedded systems, ECAD (Xpedition), ARM microcontrollers, Python, C, C++ Experience in high-volume, safety-critical, and cost-sensitive product development is beneficial Experience with wireless and RF is beneficial Your broad technical understanding, quick comprehension, and willingness to constantly learn new things enable you to connect people and ideas You are reliable, self-driven, have a structured way of working and are willing to take ownership You value intercultural teamwork in a global company Excellent communication skills in English and a working knowledge of German required Who and where we are Find out why Siemens is chosen every year as one of the most popular employers in Switzerland, and get a first impression of a new working environment and the people who could be your new work colleagues.
